Might need pacemaker

Issues with headache & dizziness and my cardiologist put me on a long term monitor. Long story short my heart rate slows up too much so a pacemaker is the option. Any one on here have any experience with them?

1) They get better all the time so that is a good thing!

I've an ICD, which is a pacemaker with shocking capability. Don't know why they retained the ICD and didn't put me on pacemaker this last time. Initially, it was put in to control (also allows them to monitor) afib. Dang thing shocked me 4 times before they finally tweeked the settings. None since. Initially, i had a 2 lead one. Think one lead is for pacing, and the other for shocking.

They could not fix the afib (after 2 atrial ablations and 3 electro shocks and trial with Tekasin). So, last time they ablated the the AV node, which destroys the body's communication from top to bottom chamber. They gave me an option of continuing with the 2 lead or putting in a 3 lead to control the other side of the heart. I have a friend who went through all this and ended up with the 3 lead one. That's what I have now. Afib is no longer an issue because it cannot affect the bottom chamber. Before, afib would cause the bottom chamber to beat too fast. The ICD was to induce a shock to stop this if it got too fast. I can now drink caffeinated coffee because it will not cause afib.

Can really change from patient to patient. Eveyone is different. Afib medications had no good effects whatsoever for me. They help some people. Speak up if you find a med is don't something it shouldn't to you. I've had so many troubles with medications.
