I wonder if Midwest Equipment (ME) will be selling soon a copy of KK finish mower (made in "somewhere else") or not. Ps: ME looks to be a serious people (like me) and appreciate their way of doing business.

nomad,
I doubt that Midwest would ever copy another manufacturer. Now, they may look seriously at 10 manfacturers products, see what is "not right" with them and incorporate the "good stuff" in their design. Midwest will not release anything to market until every design flaw has been corrected after real field trial. Believe me I know /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. Keep in mind that they also need to keep the price where most people can afford to purchase it. Anything can be way over engineered and over built, but then it gets too pricey for most people. Midwest does not do that.

I didn't mean ME would ever copy another one. I only said ME would "sell" soon a copy of KK mowers. He probably doesn't like to do that - but, the market/price maybe will force him to do that. Ps: Anyway, Inspector, JimMc probably understood what I meant.

I can not speak for every one involved, since my design firm, Integration Engineering, and the companies I work with are separate entities; however, I can say that at this point I am not involved with any plans to import equipment, especially implements built to gain market acceptance as "look-alikes for less".

It would be counterproductive for an engineering/design company whose mission is to advance the form and function of its products to purchase for resale equipment which offers no improvements in design or performance over machines already available to consumers. Our goal has never been "the same as Brand X for less", but rather to develop quality products with workmanship integrating features and perfomance above and beyond expectation.

I have a feeling that you misunderstood me. I wasn't offering/suggesting/advicing you to enter also import business. Thats not my business. Importing a copy of KK mower was only (but meaningful!) joke. Anyway... (btw, I'm not involved in copying KK, either.)

"Look-Alikes For Less" or "Same As The Brand X For Less" or "Tractor For Less!!;)"... must be ruling more than 80% (maybe, 90%?) of the world market. Take the oil... which was invented (started to be used in the engines) a century ago. Now, most of the world money is being carried by the oil. Anyway - I think that your companies would be much more productive if they joined "globalization" in which global collobrations even in inventions/developments should be done. Take your top & tilt item. This could be made in China for cheaper price and hence, would serve world farmers more and you could have made better money to support another new project / development. The name of your 2nd company is "IntegrationEngineering"? But your company isn't integrating anywhere. May I contribute to any of your projects? But, if I come up a new idea, why shall I manufacture it there in the US while things are cheaper here? (one lb of apple here is for less than $0.15.) I think that small manufacturers in the US should find a way to become competitive. and, to me, its only way is to find a way of working with people at other corners of the world. Top & Tilt could have been produced for much cheaper cost, for example.

Since before my projects done in conjunction with Midwest Fabrication, who currently are building some of the implements I have designed, I have always worked for my own company, Integration Engineering. While I have never been an employee of Midwest Fabrication, I have worked closely with them, especially on the production of implements marketed under various labels as well as other projects. (For instance, Midwest had implements in the Integration Engineering booth at the National Farm Machinery Show this year) Integration Engineering has always owned the rights to the designs, even though the production was done elsewhere and under several brand labels. For the time being, Midwest Fabrication will continue to build implements they have been producing as designed by Integration Engineering. In addition, Integration Engineering has some other projects, some of which have been offered to Midwest Fabrication, while others are being built by other facilities with different capabilities.

I guess this means that the designs known as Midwest could reappear from other manufacturers both foreign and domestic. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have thought Jim's been the owner of Midwest Equipment. And knowing that Jim's against the manufacturing the products abroad, I was surprised why I saw ("somewhere" in Turkey) some Midwest Implements. Now, I understand - Jim is a designer company designing products for manufacturers. Now, wondering if Jim is already working with a manufacturer or two in Turkey too. I had seen a core plug aerator here with a label of Midwest. Was it designed by you? Well designed equipment, especially its curved tine is good. Somehow, I had bought one from that tine to see it from a close distance because I am a curious person.
