I am experiencing a rapid leak from the mid shaft of the PTO on a John Deere 2305. I bought the tractor second-hand a couple of months ago, and this just started happening a couple of days ago. I replaced an exterior o-ring that is mounted on the exterior of the PTO pump, but it is still leaking just as bad as it did before I replaced the o-ring. I will also say this, there is a lot of play in the PTO shaft itself. I can pull it in and out of the pump itself. No other movement. I'm sure that there has to be something else that is causing it to leak the fluid like it is.
I am hoping this is something simple to repair, but I know how my luck is, if it's broke, it's gonna be expensive.
