New to the board but was wondering if anyone could help me identify the parts needed to do the 285 recall. Apparently there was a recall years ago to replace the head gasket and head bolts as the originals (head bolts) were allowing blow-by into the cylinders. I am trying to locate any info on this deal as mine has never been fixed and it is pressurizing the radiator now when it gets hot and under a big load. Thanks

I think that I saw where Big Dean posted that he had the numbers and had done the upgrade before. You might check his Internet site or e-mail him for the information. He is back on line now after being sick for a while.

The early 285 had, "Head Bolts", the later, and the older tractor were changed to "Head Studs, with Nuts". If you have a blown head gasket, it is very important to make sure the block and head surfaces are good, or the head gasket will blow out even with the new studs and nuts. If the gasket is blown between two cylinder and the compresson has eaten a groove in the block, this can be repaired at a machine shop.
