MF1010 Paint Color

I have a Massey Ferguson 1010 16HP tractor that is about 25 years old. It has much of it's life outside. It sits beside my 10 year old MF 1250. The color contrast is dramatic.

The 1010 looks like it is an orange color sitting beside the red 1250.

Is it a color shift due to sun exposure or was the older MF color more orange?

I'd like to do some touch up painting rather than an entire paint job and use off the shelf paint, if possible. I know that I can get a color match paint but I only need less than one rattle can.

Do you know of an off the shelf color that will be a relatively close to the older, sort of an orange color?

It's sun faded,try using a cut polish wax first and see what it brings out.:thumbsup:Other then painting the whole tractor try the cut polish,then you'll see its tractor red as close as your going to get.I have a 2007 gc2300 that had some hood damage and even buying spray can from massey it's still not the same.Touch ups will always show up unless your a expert painter and do painting for a living.Larry

I have some places with rust on the hood and around the fill tube the paint is gone where diesel has spilled over. I may just paint the entire top of the hood with a close color and see how it looks. Then I will probably repaint the entire tractor when I see that I don't like it!

I have some fond memories of Winnipeg. I went fishing a few times up at God's Lake. I also saw the Ink Spots at a dinner show at one of the places we ate at while overnight in Winnipeg. That's an old group.

Larry,

I did as you suggested. When I rubbed, and rubbed and rubbed in one place I could see that there is indeed red under the orange. The paint that flaked off of the spot that has some rust is RED on the bottom side.

I don't think that I will rub the entire tractor to get it back to red. I did find a couple of orange paints that are close so I think I will paint the top of the hood with the closest color.
