More weight will help you, not hurt... You'll have plenty of HP to handle the weight with either the 49 or 54
My 1758 nicest tractor I have owned. Soot regen cycle not an issue for me, particulate filter and emissions stuff was a worry but I am past that and don't notice it sometimes when it does cycle. I like my cab on the 1700 series has been a summer from **** with humidity and bugs and storms here in MN. The A/C is a must and I am not sure how I have done without in past. top speed over 20 mph with the HST. Skid steer style loader and front mount hyd. also the only way to move snow. I can haul *** with a 96" Bobcat snowblade. Ag tires loaded and I have traction up the Kazoo but they are tough on grass. Loader and Hyd. system is strong and I really feel these are the best tractor out there in and even above their $ range. I get more done with this Massey than I did with several other tractors. Part of it is having a cab and working in weather you wouldn't be out in with a open station

Wow, sorry to read about those problems. I have the exact same model and it just goes. Hope you get them sorted out soon. I love my reliable machine.
