More weight will help you, not hurt... You'll have plenty of HP to handle the weight with either the 49 or 54

I love my 1742, if it's an upgrade you really want to do then it's worth it

My 1758 nicest tractor I have owned. Soot regen cycle not an issue for me, particulate filter and emissions stuff was a worry but I am past that and don't notice it sometimes when it does cycle. I like my cab on the 1700 series has been a summer from **** with humidity and bugs and storms here in MN. The A/C is a must and I am not sure how I have done without in past. top speed over 20 mph with the HST. Skid steer style loader and front mount hyd. also the only way to move snow. I can haul *** with a 96" Bobcat snowblade. Ag tires loaded and I have traction up the Kazoo but they are tough on grass. Loader and Hyd. system is strong and I really feel these are the best tractor out there in and even above their $ range. I get more done with this Massey than I did with several other tractors. Part of it is having a cab and working in weather you wouldn't be out in with a open station

What kind of deal did bobcat give you on this? I am looking to trade my 2615 for something similiar but can't quite justify the deal they are throwing my way.

Ended up buying a MF 1754 HST cab in late September. I've put around 55 hours on it so far. Great tractor! For the size, weight and HP this thing is a beast!!! Every time I run it, I'm amazed at what it is capable of doing. Between the HST and the power of this tractor, I've cut the time required for a normal daily snowplowing effort in almost half. I've had some issues with the HST (tractor wouldn't move in reverse), bad switch on the HST pedals, 3 point lift handle misaligned and jerky 3 point lift. I have some posts describing the issues. I fixed most of the issues myself with parts, filters and hydraulic oil assistance from my selling dealer. Main HST issue seems to have come from overfilled and contaminated hydraulic oil and then plugged filters. Tractor is probably running at 95%. Still having an intermittent problem with HST going into forward or reverse. Press on the forward and reverse pedals, engine revs, tractor doesn't move. Overall, even with the issues, this is a great tractor! However, if in a couple of months, I don't have these issues sorted out, it won't be as great!

Biodegraded- appreciate your reply. It seems to be a great tractor if I can get the bugs worked out! Since we have the same model tractor. Do you ever run into a situation where you step on the forward and/or reverse pedals, say throttle is set at 2000 rpms, and your tractor engine revs to 2600 rpms for a couple of seconds and then waits for a couple of seconds to move? Almost, like you are on ice but the wheels don't spin. Also, have you ever noticed any jumpyness in the 3PNTLIFT when picking up a heavy implement no matter how the flow rate dial is set? Thanks - Ted

I have experience none of those things. Good luck with your rig.
