I went with 24" over hang over the garage doors (12 on the other sides) and am VERY glad I did the main doors a bit longer. Would recommend it 24" around the entire bldg as it keeps the rain off ya going in and out the man door.

On my medium barn, I've got 10' garrage style doors that are insulated on each end which allows great ventilation. The roll up kind take for ever and don't think u can get them insulated.

My small barn Isn't insulated and only has sliding doors on one end. No ventilation and it gets hot!

Ventilation and insulation are key IMO. But it gets hot here.
