Mechanical pop up dovetail

Guys, my memory is failing me help me out here.

I have been shopping trailers for weeks. I have decided to go with a 20+5 GN with a "pop-up" dovetail, and standing ramps. Ok, back a lot of years ago, way before hydraulic doves became popular; my dad had a trailer that had a popup 5' dovetail that was mechanically operated via trailer jack. It was a production trailer, not modified. The beauty of this system was that you could pop the dovetail up while loaded. It did suck popping it up loaded but it worked EVERY time and no high costs of a hydraulic system. It made more use out of the extra 5' on longer loads. Does anyone know of the maker of a trailer like this? If not I may just order a manual pop-up and modify it later.

I saw one for sale the other day... it was either a pj or cornpro- probably pj. It was like an '02 in pretty decent shape but needed tires soon for $3200 iirc.

Bri-Mar makes a trailer like you are talking about. 20+5 with a jack for the dovetail. It's pretty neat as the whole dovetail not just the deck will jack level.

Yes its a custom made unit but works great. Been thinking of upgrading to a bigger hydraulic dovetail trailer only problem is the price of them. The popup dove is very useful for hay, lumber,steel or equipment.

No not exactly. But since you posted could you share the specs on your pump and cylinder(s) setup? I think I could easily adapt a pump into the setup I am looking at.

I just unpin the back and lift it up. Then to pieces of 2x2 tube fall down and are pinned in place to hold it up. Real simple design. To lower it I just push the tubes forward and it falls down. It is heavy so most of the time I use a loader to lift it but I can to it by myself if I have to. This trailer has detached ramps and no leggs to support the rear so I use wood blocks while loading which has worked good for last 15 years.
I'll try to get photo this weekend of it.

Yes, thanks, but like I said in the original post the idea is to be able to pop it up while loaded.

All you would need are 2 hydraulic cylinders an a pump to push it up. Fairly easy to fab up if you were around here I would say stop by shouldn't take more than a few hours to weld up.
