This one is just for my curiosity. While looking on Massey's web site I notice the 500, 3600 and 5400 series all have a model that overlaps with the same pto horsepower. Obviously the 5400 is a bigger stronger chassis, but where do the 500 and 3600 fit in? They seem close in specs. Is the 3600 a newer model (it has the new style grill and look to it.) Which is the more popular for small farming operations? Is one a lower cost model than the other?

The 500 series is also no longer "current". Still many new tractors "in the system", but I believe the 3600 series has bumped the 500's from the roster. 500's are (were?) really good tractors. Simple and economical. A LOT of bang for the buck.

The 3600 are a light fuel efficient 3 cyl model. The 500's are an older low buck 4 cyl model. The 5400 are a heavy, hi spec tractor.

Not ALL the 500's were 4-bangers. The 533 was a 3-cylinder, essentially a modern version of the 135.
