working on an old massey 9 baler, does anyone know the original thickness of the ram nylon wear bars?

We have a #9, I am not aware of any nylon in the plunger wear strips. Agco Parts books might help. The common problem around here is rust jacking the wear strips causing the plunger to stick.

well, there are 5 dark grey wear bars made of nylon type material as shown in the parts breakdown, but no dimensions are given. they are about 6.5 inches long by 2 inches wide, but mine are worn very thin

Use a pinch bar to raise the plunger up and estimate how much clearance you get ? Add that to the existing thickness and go from there. Then see what you material options are.
