Massey Mid-Mount mower

I’m looking at ordering a Massey 72” mid-mount mower (Model 1705) run from a Massey 1835M.

I have about 3 acres of native grasses. Has anyone used this particular mower, and able to comment on its performance? How it performs in taller grass etc…. ?

I can't comment on that model, but after owning a mid-mount I recommend thinking about how often you expect to attach/remove the mower deck. Keep in mind that blade maintenance will require removing the deck unless you have a pit. The Kubota I had required a fair amount of time under the tractor to hook up and dismount. A mid-mount is a bit easier to use than a finishing mower especially if there is a lot of stuff to maneuver around. However, for mower maintenance, ease of hookup the finishing mower is the winner. I have a 72" Woods on my MF1840 and am quite happy with its performance.

Thanks for the feedback. I know Massey (Agco) is in bed w/ Woods, so guessing it may be the very same mower you have, just w/ a different name.
I currently have a 60” mid mount on the GC Massey I’m trading in. I ended up buying 2 sets of ramps, and am able to drive up all 4 tires & allow enough clearance to remove/install blades.

You never said what the field is used for.
Is it a meadow or is it a part of an extended lawn.
If you plan on maintaining it and want a lawn quality cut I would get the mid-mount.
If this a maintained meadow I would get a 3pth Bushhog.
I mow aboot an acre+ around the house and barn with my GC2300 and it's mid-mount mower.
Good job and all but I don't think that long term I would want to cut the rest of my property with this setup.
The Bushhog is tougher and better able to handle Sh-it that happens like branches, stumps, burrows...
And the advice from CaptPat.
My setup is strictly for cutting lawn as I have other tractors.
If you plan on using yours for other jobs installing and removing the mid-mount can become a pain.
Even greasing the universal joints on the PTO shaft is a taxing procedure.
I also find that cutting taller grasses the clippings pile up on the front of the deck and get into the guards and pulleys.
Especially when it's a bit wet in the morning. Then I have to raise the deck and back up out of the pile.
Doesn't really happen with a 3pth machine.

I personally would be spending so much time installing and removing MMM because most of my Tractor work requires agility the MMM would hinder.... Have 2 JB riders for all my mowing and the seem to me a better option from what I mow on my acreage.... You might get a decent rider for less then what a MMM will cost you to add to your tractor....
