Mine read dead empty this morning, couldn't quite fit a 6 gallon can of diesel into it, and no the gauge reads 1 bar. SMH..

I would be letting the dealer play with this once I didn't need the thing daily. That has to be covered by warranty and why waste your time fixing something once it starts getting complicated . You have to remember too that this is a new model and the mechanics are for the most part almost as in the dark as you are so don't expect one to give you straight advice over the phone. That's how I ended up pulling the plug on my tranny that dumped 6 gallons on the ground a couple years ago. They have to do a lot of their diagnosing hands on with these new models and likely haven't experienced the issue themselves yet. That's what sucks about new models.
It sucks that the fuel cap is where it is with that down and around shape leading to the tank. I don't think you can easily "stick" it to gauge the fuel. That's what we always did with light planes and then you know how much you have. It's too bad they keep lumping these simple things into multifunction displays. They work when they work but you can't just fix the part that is broken and you can bet new parts will be $$$$$$

Re: Massey Ferguson 1736 Hydraulic Oil Level

Wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I just had my first oil change and when tech was filling Hydraulic oil he filled it with loader in the air. He added aprox. 5-10 liters more than specs indicate. Will this cause problems?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Wow that blower looks BIG! What is the minimum Hp needed to run it?

Every neighbor is now going to be asking you to clear their driveway this winter, you better keep that hidden and only use it at night. LOL

The spec's on the blower say 35 hp minimum.

Before i bought my sub compact i looked into the compact and was very interested. The E models though did not have a mid mount pto where the P did. The 1736 is one awesome tractor but i couldnt persuad my wife to let me soemd the extra money :(. We have less then 2 acres but i always loved buying bigger products :). So I was curious does anyone have or would anyone even use a mid mount mower with this? One real hickup for me was i have a lot of trees on the property and having a rear attachemnt would not have worked making the tractor way too long.

Anyone have pictures of it with a MMM?

I thought about it, and used a rear 6 foot finish mower a couple of times but it is no where near as quick and nimble as my Hustler Zero Turn so I will be keeping that as well. I have 25 acres and mow about 2.5 of it and farm the rest so I can justify it.

Anybody add extra hydraulics and a grapple to a 1736E? If so what was involved in labor and cost?

I mowed my 2 acre lawn for many years with an old gray TO 20 and a 6' tow behind deck. It worked quite well but we didn't have many trees to mow around. Armstrong steering was a pain though. As for a mid mount this 1736 is a pretty big lawn mower to me. Pretty heavy for anything soft and really likes to tear things up if I try to do a sharp turn with the R1s on there. I much prefer my Simplicity 48" deck mower for lawn chores although it doesn't steer or ride nearly as well. I could see myself mowing with the big guy if I had to but I wouldn't really want to . That goes double if it was soft ground rather than the hard clay we have around here.
Looking at it there is a lever for a mid PTO but I don't know a thing about it beyond it's being there.

Id thier a MMM for this tractor?

Yes, I was looking at getting one for mine as I had a MMM on my John Deere 4010 subcompact. I sure miss having the MMM but I think my 1736 beast would have been a little too big for my 5 acres with trees. My dealer told me he would sell me a high dollar zero turn mower for less than what the MMM sold for the 1736. So I bought 3 longhorns instead to mow my 5 acres. Still have to mow around the house and pool with the push mower.

The tractor has 2 fuel tanks connected by a single hose. On earlier units they had a problem with running out of fuel on slopes because the pickup tube is on 1 tank, so if that tank is on the uphill side of the slope it would run out even though it showed 1/2 tank. They have since added a check valve to keep as much fuel as possible on the side with the pick up tube when on a slope but it can result in the fuel gauge reading low.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion, I was tempted to drop the plate between the (2) tanks to get a better look, but now I don't have to. It is nice to be able to fill at knee height, but the check valve does complicate the accurate reading of 10+ gallons, too bad they don't mention something about it in the manual or better prep the dealers.

Has anyone added the 3rd function option to the loader? If so, what was the cost? This is the system that replaces the loader control lever with one that has a switch which electronically switches the bucket tilt function with a 3rd function (like a grapple).

Thanks,

Had my 1736 now about 8 weeks and I'm gaining up on the 80 hour mark. It seems to be doing a bit better on fuel and I've learned to deal with the erratic fuel gauge. One thing I did notice is that the dealer did not change my HYD oil at the 50 hour service, and it said "Hyd fluid looks fine" on the invoice. Isn't it supposed to be changed at 50 hours? Anyone else forego the HYD change at 50 hrs? I'd agree, the fluid does look clean.

I haven't hit 50 hours yet but when I bought the fluids I was told the hydro fluid doesn't need to be changed at the 50 hour interval.

So cold weather is just weeks away, and I guess I haven't figured out how to cycle my glow plugs. Are they automatic on the first ignition click? I know on my old bobcat (traded in), I had to turn the key backward for 15-20 seconds but not sure how it works on the 1736.

If it's anything like the 1529, there is a "spring loaded" glow plug position on the ignition switch. Off/On/Glow Plug/Start

I never give mine any thought. I flip it to on and wait for the yellow light to go out:confused3: then crank it. Right or wrong it always fires right up even below zero.

That's what I have been doing, just didn't know if I was doing it right.
