Massey Ferguson 1140

This is my first tractor I have ever owned. I am not very mechanically inclined therefore I need some advice. I was plowing my field with a 12 inch single bottom plow. The tractor went clunk and stopped. I thought I hit a rock but I didn't. I backed up and tried again. I went about 2 feet and the same thing happened. This is how I went down the field. Now I am stuck. I can only go forward or backward about 1 foot and then there is a grinding sound. It sounds like it is coming from underneath me near the rear tires. I abandoned the tractor in the field and here I am. Any suggestions on what it might be.
