massey 1742 loader control issue

My massey 1742 compact tractor with a massey Dl125 loader control issue, it keeps dropping an additional 2ft after the joystick is released, even when tractor is hot or cold sometime not at all, but never does it when lifting. I did connect the lift cylinder to the remote circuit and it worked proper. I am thinking it is the control valve in the tractor itself or maybe the joystick action, I have inspected the joystick linkage and dont see anything wrong. And help with solving the problem would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Sound like the spool isn't returning the center just right. Check linkage adjustment and the can at the bottom side of spool.

can you explain the can at the bottom side of the spool ? spool being the valve spool or is there a spool on the joystick?

The control valve has 2 spools that move in and out to control flow. At the end there is a cover that looks like a can. It has 2 to 4 screws holding them on, also some valves they unscrew. In the can there are springs for returning to center and 3 or 4 balls if you have float.
Best for you is to get a parts brake down of your control valve. Your MF I have no ideal where to send you to get one.

OK now I know what you are talking about, those (cans) are on external valves this contol valve body is inside the tractor drivetrain body. I have a diagran off agco parts book, but will need more information to see if the joystick wabble joint (which is real loose for a 5 yr old tractor )that could be causing the problem, thanks for the reply. stay safe CHEERS
