I have this cat 1 trailer mover and now have a cat 2 quick hitch on my 5055 with the adjustable top hook. I had a thought of just buying a cat 2 drawbar that will fit in the quick hitch (I measured), remove the cat 1 pins from the mover, then just bolting the drawbar to the bottom of the mover with a or 4 grade 8 bolts.

It's within the range of the top link height adjustment. I'd have to add some washers or plate to fill the gap, but I think it would be pretty solid for moving empty trailers around. I'd have to add quick hitch pins too, of course.

My other option is to just use it on the 5105. But the 5055 is front wheel assist and I usually use the mover to pull the trailer into or out of the yard when it's really muddy or snowy. But the trailer would put some weight on the rear wheels.

A QH compatible cat 2 mover is a bit pricey, especially when I have this one already.

All I did was I welded a 2 1/2" ball on top of my rear mount bale spear (Cat2). I move my GN loaded or empty, in fact I tote it along when moving rounds from the field to the farm. Don't even bother retracting the landing gear on the GN, just pick it up and move it. Of course I do have a large tractor.

Does the trailer mover need to be interchangeable? Cat 1 and Cat2? or will it just be used with the Cat2 quick hitch? If you're just going to use with the new quick hitch, the draw bar should work if the angles & offsets are set right. I'd just tack it all up on the quick hitch, then weld it to the trailer mover off the tractor. That should let you set the spacers how you want to get the angles & offsets right.

Cat 2 would be fine. My other tractor is cat 2 with Pats QH, but the QH pins might be too big for that.

I think assembly would be pretty simple, it's really just using the new drawbar to support the trailer mover as a whole. The angle would be a bit different, but I can adjust on with the top link.

As another response mentioned, being able to move the trailer without retracting the landing gear is quite useful.

Drilling the holes and attaching it was pretty simple. I forgot how much it would raise the top pin. Adjusting the top hook high enough works to hold the top, but it will interfere with the gooseneck hitch when turning.

The easy way to solve this and make it so I don't have to adjust the top hook would be to add more plate lower and a new pin location.

It would be easier to just buy a quick hitch compatible mover if I didn't already own this one. If I was doing a a bunch of trailer moving, I'd go that route.

The other thing is that the original pin mounts get in the way to just slide the hitch in place. I'll cut them down once I'm sure I'm going to stay on this path. I'll have to measure to see if the pieces I need to cut off will be large enough for what I need on the top part. I doubt I'd be that lucky.
