Mahindra vs Kioti

   / Mahindra vs Kioti #21
I'm looking at buying a 35 or 40 hp with a loader and cab. Mahindra have the 2638 with 37.4 hp and Kioti have a dk 4210 se which is 39.6 hp and looks better with more equipment. I'm wondering if anyone out there knows which one would be the best to buy? I do landscaping in the summer and snow removal in the winter.

And be sure to go to each dealer and drive the tractors around the yard for a while. I put 3 hours on my Kioti in the dealers yard before I purchased.

All I can say is I have 24 hours on my 2638 and have been happy. I wouldn't be mad about owning a Kioti tho. After buying my first tractor I've come to the conclusion that I could always want a thing or two another tractor might have, but you can usually add them on later. And bottom line, if it moves the stuff I want it to move, without breaking all the time, I'm happy.

I think either would be a great choice, just make sure you can find parts for what you pick. I recommend making a decision and never looking back!

I wonder what the parts situation is with the rural king line of tractors. They are also made by TYM. Maybe a viable source for parts or might even be worth a trip out of NY. My experience pricing tractors in New York is I could travel to PA and buy one for a bad price and still save money compared to the best price I got from any dealer in NY.

Not picking on NY but every brand that I priced up there was way higher!

Well RK, Branson, are all owned by TYM, and TYM makes some Mahindras. Now what parts are interchangeable etc, who knows. Might be a viable option to get parts, but could be a nightmare in cross referencing etc. Like I said I would have really liked to get a TYM, I could have gotten at 474 for the same price as my Kubota 2650. But like I said we kind of live somewhat remote, and Kubota parts are easier to get.

You are right on NY pricing, its basically MSRP everywhere and thats it. Heard that from many people. I looked at PA, But Kind of came down to time, gas money etc, would have saved, but at the time easier to just get local.

The TYM assembled Mahindras have Mahindra engines. The other parts may not be common with TYM models.

TYM owns Branson but except for one 19hp SCUT the Branson line is totally different than TYM's line. Some TYMs now come with engines from Kukje, who are Branson's parent company that TYM bought.

Mahindra can't really compete with the South Korean Tractor brands machine wise. They might have a more attractive price though, they are lesser machines.

Which are lesser machines?

Not that I own either because I don't but, if I was buying a new one, I'd buy the Kioti over the Mahindra simply because the Kioti is made in South Korea and is an offshoot of a Kubota tractor whereas the Mahindra is is built in India and I'm not impressed with anything Indian.

My personal view.

Virtually anything Mahindra makes is a lesser machine than a comparable Kioti, engineering and mechanics-wise.

Agreed.... The local Mahindra dealer was far less than 'impressive' when I was shopping. I actually thought they were a "used" dealership. Most of his stock units were faded, dirty, and definitely appeared to be "used", even though they were new. When I got prices from him, they were the same prices for the comparable Kubota and JD (not that they were really comparable). I'm surprised he stays in business.

I am not gonna argue that a kubota and probably a kioti (never used one or even seen one) aren't better than a Mahindra. But it isn't like we die as soon as we step on our tractors like you guys are making it sound. Holy smokes, like there isn't a bunch of "wtf is going on with my kubota" threads out there.

Plus, some of our rigs are now made in South Korea right next to yours. I know mine was even assembled down the road in Penn.

And EVEN BETTER, some are made in China :cool2:
