Mahindra dies after turning it on its side

/ Mahindra dies after turning it on its side #31
Once the OP got the tractor back upright, letting it sit for a while was a good idea.

And if the engine started and ran reasonably for any length of time, even three seconds, that means the engine is probably in good working order still. If the engine was Hydro locked or something else, it simply wouldn't start at all. And once the engine did start, having it become Hydro locked after it was running for three seconds doesn't make any sense.

Then the OP said that when they try to start it now, it tries to start fires once and then dies. To me that sounds like he has tried to start it many times and the same thing happens every time. The battery/starter is still working and turning the engine over trying to start it, but after catching once and firing once it dies each time he tries to start. If you were Hydro locked, you shouldn't even be able to turn over the engine at all.If you slightly bent a rod, there is a possibility that the engine can run using the other cylinders, but with a worse bend, you will get knocking or other catastrophic events (e.g. holes in the engine block).

So my vote goes to a fuel delivery problem. After there are fuel problems on diesel engines, until they get a good supply of fuel, they will sit there and crank. Sometimes restoring a fuel supply involves bleeding old fuel filters. Sometimes it involves the water catch tank being full of air. Sometimes the lines. Troubleshoot the fuel system until you get fuel spurting out of the line that goes to your injectors.

I'm curious to see how this one turns out.

I don't have a lot to offer other than it will be interesting to see the condition of the glow plugs once you pull them. I also agree that you probably need to purge your fuel line of air.

It was mentioned only once, but I have to say it again: Glad you weren't hurt, or mostly pride. A tractor can be fixed and at worst, replaced.

I'm of the group of folks that think this is probably a fuel issue. As 5030 mentioned, you could have slightly bent a connecting rod, but with fuel, you'll probably get it started. From there you'll need to see what the running condition is like.

I think this is a situation where you'll want some help from a diesel mechanic. Not sure of your mechanical ability.

I am with all who say fuel issues. Not sure how in depth your owners manual is but getting fuel to your injectors will be much the same as changing a fuel filter. Look for bleeding air from fuel lines in the servicing section. Or get a mechanic to come to you
IMO the engine is fine if it ran at all/still cranks over

It sounds like the fuel system got some air in there when the tractor was on it's side. The fuel pickup was probably out of the fuel in the tank. If it turned over an ran a bit it is not hydro locked.
That grey fluid mentioned sounds like you lost some weight fluid from your rear wheels.

Maybe, just maybe, the liquid that you see on the front rim is from your front axle leaking gear oil?

If not, I would completely go through the fuel system and purge the lines and bleed the fuel filter like all the others have mentioned.

Im glad you are ok,.

thanks for the support HTWT
Try opening both (if it has 2) oils fill plugs. It happened to me (but I turned it back up sooner, and it would just try, but not start, like the flywheel was stuck. I took off the oil fill plugs, and heard a hiss, and it started right up

I was about to type the same thing. Thanks for saving my fingers some work.

I don,t know much about your specific tractor, but before trying to turn it over again, remove the injectors, or spark plugs, cause it might be you have fuel or oil above the top of the pistons, and you cannot compress that, so your engine will not turn over. Hopefully you didn,t bend any rods already. Once you have removed all the injectors or plugs, try turning the engine over and see if it will spin.
Hydro lock

Ditto for me. I'd it was hydro locked, it would not have turned on revolution, let alone run a few seconds.
