my 3510 will not always go into reverse, it seem like it is not fully engaged and pops out of gear. is there a linkage adjustment?

My 4110 was doing that some when I first got it in late May. Now it only does it occassionally. I have concluded it was either the linkage being a bit stiff, or it was my not being used to the shuttle.

Every now and then I will not get it all the way into reverse, when this happens I put it back in forward and then bring the shuttle lever smoothly back into reverse and all is fine.

I figure either way since it has improved with use it will continue to improve.

I agree with Keith B, When I first got my 4110 I had to "put it" into reverse or forward and if it didn't engage I had to go back the other way then try again, but now it seems to have smoothed out with only an occassional glitch which is probably me not paying attention /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif.

I agree with the other guys about sometimes not getting it all the way into reverse before starting to let the clutch out, then have to move it to forward & try again - my 4110 has always done this some and I have close to 850 hours on mine. When I have the RPM's up for loader work etc., I try to ease it into gear but get a little too rambunctious sometimes and will grind a gear a little. But also there is adjustment for the shift cable - at both ends. To adjust mine in the past, I get it in neutral and look at the slot that the shifter is in on the steering column, it should be in the midway point of the slot. If not, look underneath the tractor and adjust the shifter cable at the trans bracket until the shifter is in the middle of the slot of the steering column. This should allow it to go into forward or reverse all the way without hitting the steering column shroud. The cable is also adjustable at the shifter end but you have to remove the shroud around the column to access it and then won't have the shroud for a guide to adjust it. After adjustment, move it into forward and make sure the shifter doesn't hit the shroud before going into gear all the way, then check it the same way in reverse - tighten the nuts on the cable good once you've confirmed you've got it centered good. Good luck !

my 3510 grinds sometimes when i'm changing directions, but i figured it was because i hadn't fully stopped before i made the change...

i backup to neutral, and try again, and its always worked... i'm getting better at NOT grinding...

now you guys got me worried *grin*... i'll have to talk to my dealer about this...
