Re: \"Made in the USA\"

Simplicity does make a small tractor similar to the JD X400 series. It has 24hp Briggs & Stratton 3 cyl diesel engine, a 3pt and compatible FEL and BH attachments. It doesn't have 4wd, but does have a rear differential lock.

BTW, I thought the Class I NH's (TC18-24) were 100% Shibaura's. I saw a TC24D that had a Made in Japan label, and found a nearly identical Shibaura model that sells in Europe. The only difference that I can see was that it was red. The same would be true for the TC30.

Re: \"Made in the USA\"

Why do you want an American tractor? most "american" tractors are made with korean engines and parts from asia

Re: \"Made in the USA\"

Are you telling us the PowerTech engines in JD are made in Korea and the Catepillar diesels as well? Are the Case/NH engines made there. I know Bobcats use Kubota diesels from Japan. Case industrial? I don't know, but I have not kept up with nor really make it a point too. I tend to look at quality and need first, everything else comes second. Rat...

Re: \"Made in the USA\"

I remember a few years back when New Holland made a big deal about opening there assembly plant in Georgia to make the then to be introduced Boomer line. Granted they have some part from around the world but the actual Boomers are "made in the USA" as least as far as New Holland's press releases and web site. Here's a quote from the Boomer page of the New Holland site "Boomer compact tractors are built from the ground up to blast through any job. Assembled at the New Holland plant in Dublin, Georgia, Boomer applies the best in big-tractor thinking to a compact for the farm, the estate or the job site."

Re: \"Made in the USA\"

There are two complete tractors under 100hp wholly built in America. Case and JD @ 85hp and 95hp respectively.
(I forget the exact models) Small JDs are yanmar or german made.
Case uses mostly Consolidated Diesel Corp. engines which are a joint venture between Case and Cummins. I believe Komatsu has holdings in CDC as well. I dunno where their smaller engines are made; probably Iseki, Shinbara(sp?), or Mitsubishi.

FYI, the big Cub Cadets are made by Mitsubishi.

I'm with you Rat, Companies are so interdependant these days, Keeping up with exactly where every piece is made would be very hard.

Caterpillar's small diesels are made by perkins. I dunno exactly where Perkins has a factory.

Re: \"Made in the USA\"

O.K., I just grabbed the flashlight and took a look outside at my tractor. I was expecting to see "Assembled in USA" on the manufacturer's plate, but instead I found "Made in USA" /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif I noticed that there are three seperate serial numbers on the plate: tractor, engine, & transmission. So it is possible that they are from 3 different sources. I popped the hood, and found the Shibaura on the engine. I didn't see a made in Japan, but I assume that is where it is made. I looked around and saw several "Made in USA" stamps: One was on the radiator, several were on the hoses. I did notice that the battery had a "Made in Japan" and the headlights had a "Made in Germany" (Phillips). Since it has been raining here, I choose not to crawl under the tractor to see what the transmission said - sorry guys, I'm not that dedicated. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I did notice that my FEL & MMM both had "Made in USA" on the name plates. So, the Class II & III Boomers have a fair amount of U.S. content. I would assume the same might be true for the larger JD CUTS.

White's shoe company, Spokane, Washington. All hand made from all USA materials. Best boots made. All of us foresters won't wear anything else.

Dave

Thanks for checking it out. I wasn' trying to be a pain or anything, I just know that my 2120 was made in Japan and that NH made such a big deal that the Boomers were going to be made in Georgia. BTW, My TN75 is made in Italy ( and says it in huge letters right on the cab glass to make sure no one misses it)

Re: \"Made in the USA\"

Here is a designed and "mostly" made in the USA. It's a unique concept where tractors in the 3d world are used to haul to market as well as used in the field. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Granted they have some part from around the world but the actual Boomers are "made in the USA"

I hate to burst anyone's bubble but I would bet $$ that most of the parts to "assemble" the boomers here are from Asia/Japan/Italy and not the USA. The sheet metal is probably stamped here but that is about it. To my knowlegde their are no trators under 85+-hp "bult in the USA"

My friends kubota M8200 loader is "Made in USA". So some of Kubota parts must be made here.

Re: \"Made in the USA\"

Timberlands, and I know they are gone now, but that indicated what a great product Americans can make. 9 year old boots that are as comfortable as tennis shoes.
Let me add
bicycles (yes you have to spend over $100)
Appliences
tools

Good luck finding toys though. My wife recently looked at all of my sons toys and virtually every last one was made in Red China. I like to buy American but I do go foreign fairly often for better product. However, I hate to buy stuff from china because I dont think I've ever seen a chinese product that was the best in class. cheapest yeah, but not best. And politically I feel obligated to attempt to boycot chinese products. I will have to try a lot harded though, I'm ashamed about all those toys. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: \"Made in the USA\"

This was what I was trying to say by "small diesels", in the 20 HP range. ALL made outside the US.
Bummer, but appearently true.

Re: \"Made in the USA\"

Good to know, I will take note.
And a good point for the "have to own an American car" crowd. I respect that position, but I will also submit that many of those types have an American car (mostly mexican parts) in the garage, and yet, everything else they own is from K or Wall , meaning almost certainly a chinease made product. Lots of needed (and deserved based on the value and quality of the products produced) jobs are lost to the "small stuff" bought from china.

Re: \"Made in the USA\"

This Amurican made thing is is 19th century thinking in the 21st century. Companies are multinational. Stock ownership is multinational. Company leadership is multinational. Manufacturing is multinational. Sourcing of materials is multinational. Sourcing of components is multinational. The Internet is multinational. It is a Global economy. What we are seeing is the beginning of a change in the way peoples, countries and economies interelate. National borders are becoming pourous and pointless. Governments are being superceded by corporations and soon the only purpose of a national border will be for who gets to collect the tax money. I am no less American than others because I have a Made in America Toyota and a Kubota tractor. The Global economy has evolved beyond such simplistic thinking and apparently left the thinking of many in the dirt. In the future what will define "nationality" is the philosophy we live by, the values promoted and the freedoms and dignity provided or lack thereof---not the kind of appliance you drive to work. Because I choose to drive Toyota Corporation appliances or Kubota utility appliances does not make me less American, I am about sick of that foolishness. One more global way of thinking is that Americas greatest product is free thinking, it has been said that Democracies do not start wars with one another, consider also that countries that are so completely interconnected by the internet, buisness, manufacturing, culture and so on will be very relunctant to start wars with one another as well, they are us, we are them and more so every day. Re: \"Made in the USA\"

My fellow TBNers, please remember that;

1. TBN is a site on the World Wide Web
2. TBN is a site devoted to the discussion of all things tractor related.

There are plenty of sites where discussions of geo-political topics are appropriate. TBN is not one of them. It's threads like this that can turn, shall we say, ugly, very quickly. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Specifically, the Buying/Pricing forum is for discussing;

General compact tractor buying and pricing discussions, excluding brand-specific questions.

Therefore, replies about where tractors are assembled, where the various and sundry parts come from are examples of appropriate responses. Responses that include opinions about countries, opinions about other TBNers opinions, etc. are not.
