I'm in lovely Salina, KS at Great Plains Manufacturing attending a class on Kubota M7 electronics diagnosis. Thought I'd start a thread and share some pics and thoughts along the way.

It's been fun so far, lots going on with 8 machines that are bugged to be diagnosed.

I've been to a lot of service schools over my 30+ year career and this has probably been the most challenging.

Simple question - yesterday I started my M7-171KVT for the first time after winter storage because the snow is so deep now my L6060 can no longer do the job. Shortly after starting I saw a mouse running over the DPF. I found no new error codes (i think I have 17 stored from last season) and everything I tried works. Should I feel safe?

Of course the bigger thing is I kept gathering error codes that sometimes required a shut down and restart. My dealer didn't flash the latest version as I was nearing year end because they didn't want to possibly shut me down with buggy software but do they feel confident in the latest? Does Kubota ever plan to have a tractor to dealer communication system so the dealer can get the codes directly? Before retiring I worked for Caterpillar. I had a test fleet of 30 machines worldwide and my first task every morning was to check my fleet for hours and errors/faults. We were shipping that capability standard on all larger than 100 HP machines 10 years ago. Something like that would have really helped me last fall tillage system as functions failed, lights lit, and all appeared okay after restarting.

I have heard that they're supposed to be rolling out Telematics in 2020. Bobcat started shipping virtually all machines January 1st with Telematics. We did not discuss engine electronics at all this class, only machine electronics.

Its the machine electronics that give me problems. Two apparently false indicators have been Brake Oil Pressure and Steering System Oil Filter. Fault codes - many say to stop the tractor and consult your Kubota dealer (this warning is also for Brake Oil Pressure). Spent a lot of time on the cell phone with my dealer's Kubota communicator and every time the word was to start up and run. Still waiting for the dealer to take it back before spring planting - or come out to my place and reflash software if that is Kubota's solution.

I wish I had known 2 days ago the full story, I would have been able to ask the instructor
