Lug Nuts are STUCK!

/ Lug Nuts are STUCK! #21
Ah, yes. GSXR1100 got it right. It WAS the over-torqueing that was the main concern. But, really, how many here actually use a torque wrench when changing car tires? And how much of an effect does it have the performance of the wheel? I have to admit that I always use the "2 clicks of the elbow" technique.

The problem is that each lube has a different %-value when using on threads. oils, are less then dry films, etc

I just use the torque wrench since I bought a snap-on one and I have to use it (for the price I paid). Also I use it to pre-vent me from over torqueing lugs/nuts (strip threads, warm flanges, pull seals, snap nut head off, etc).

I tend to way over torque things. I do not use on 1/4 bolts though! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I use my torque wrench, but only on the Corvette.

I always did when I was home where the impact wrench and air compressor were; just carry that manual tools for when I'm away from home. And when I was traveling in an RV with a generator, I carried a half inch electric impact wrench to use instead of the manual tools.
