I am a new owner of an LS tractor and bought a backhoe attachment. After hooking up all of the hydralic lines the backhoe will not work unless someone sits on the tractor and holds the remote control lever.. Is there a way to engage this that I dont know about?

Yes, just bungee the remote lever to on, ;and then operate the BH.
You could also bypass the remote, by running a hose from FEL PB out directly to the rear with QD, and hose from the BH PB port to the IN port of the remote. The tank hose needs to go to tank. So now, at the rear, you have two hoses with QD's, and one hose for tank. You would plug in the BH hoses, tank hose to tank and be fine.
If you have the BH removed, then connect a short jumper to the two QD;s .
The removed BH should have three hoses attached. Wrap the hose ends when storing.
