And there will be a yearly use minimum - and if you don't use the amount, you will be billed for the gas you did not use anyway.
Yikes! I'd sure find a way out of THAT deal...

Like SPUG we have OTChoice a fuel Co-Op here in NH that aggregates the customers and shops this volume commitment to dealers and we average 10-15 cents/gallon less at the time of contract vs market rates. It's worked most of the time, only a 2 years in the last 10 where oil went down over the heating season.

1.89 is great price. Closer to 3-3.25 on the East coast
Must depend on when you buy and where……..I sign on for the pre buy contract in Jul/Aug. I get to pick (bet on maybe?) how many gallons to buy based on previous years usage number. It was 213.9 then. I remember it well because we just finished remodeling a customers house and he got 149.9 for 2 years as a new customer :cautious:

$1.85 in August. Never buy in winter as price is higher.

Just paid $2.30 / gal. to fill portable tanks. Back in early Dec., the price was $1.85 for the tanks.

Our main tank is a small 120 gal., they just came and filled it, 100 gals was $200, so $2.00 / gal.

I have a yearly contract price. Agreement signed in August. $1.59/gal. If I do not use all I contract for, the dollar balance is credited to the next year.

Last year $1.29.

Most of my heat is with wood. Had a three day power outage and generator uses propane.

Our pricing fluctuates, we usually call them when it gets to about 50%. Seen anywhere from $2.79-$4.12

We have 2x1000 gallon tanks (~1600 usable); fill once a year typically about 900-1000 gallons. We originally put in the 2 tanks because we were going to be heating a pool, but don't do that now.

We buy once a year, no club, but we shop every seller in the area (suburban, amerigas, and ferrelgas are never remotely in the running; there's a few smaller distributors who are usually close to a dollar a gallon lower than the big guys). I'm curious about setting up a club buy but suspect with our large fill it wouldn't be helpful, but my neighbors appear to all be on a top-up contract. I've tried to encourage them to at least buy their own tanks but you can lead a horse to water...

This year I was late buying and spent $1.79/gallon in ... I think September. June/July is the best time we've found; I think this year's low point would've been $1.59 vs last year's $1.49.

Why I refuse to use a "keep full" contract. I have a big propane tank that needs filled only once a year. In July-August price is ~ $2 a gallon. In January it is $4 a gallon and above. Guess when the propane company will come to fill the tank? They did that to me for only a couple of years before I stopped it.

I call every August and have them fill it.

At our Co-Op you can lock in the price in October or November. No surprises.

I still do a once a year fill instead, usually in July when prices are the lowest.
