Looking for JD 4-270 engine

I need some help please. I have a JD 500C backhoe that needs an engine. This engine was also used in 3010, 3020 tractors, 9600, 9610 combines among other machines. If anyone knows where I can pick up a good used or rebuildable engine please let me know.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that the 4-270 was used in those two combine models, but they weren't; the engines in those machines were 6 cylinders and double or more the HP of a 270. A running 4-270 won't be an easy find. They went out of production about 1972.

You are correct. I got into the wrong column with the applications. It does not fit the combines I mentioned.

I realize a running engine will be difficult to find, thus the request for rebuildable and the request for help from fellow TBNers.

Try T& H salvage in Pavo, Ga. They have acres of old John Deere tractors. They have a web site.
