I found a tc40 with less than 200hrs on it, it does appear faded from sitting outside. Would this scare you away with such low hours and the fade?

No, they are great machines. As long as it runs good and operates you should be fine. The fenders do like to crack and fade on these. I had one for 20 years and never had any major issues with it. I was also hard on it.

No, wouldn’t scare me in the least. They’re designed to get through inclement weather, UV, rain, and snow. Mine is open station so I keep in barn but during summer it spends a lot of time outside. [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] hours is very low and likely a great buy since many people will be affected by the cosmetic issue(s).

Monetarily the faded plastic / paint is a benefit to you as a buyer. I certainly wouldn't worry about it, although I WOULD check the transmission fluid and fuel for water intrusion being it has been stored outside.

I'm late to this thread but I want to address the cracking fender issue. My TC40S (base model) 12X12 with tubular steel fender mounted grab bars was built in 2002 and now has just over 800 hours on it with no sign of fender cracking.
The cracking issue came about in shortly thereafter years when NH changed the grabrails from metal to plastic and omitted some structural metal reinforcements under the fenders. I don't recollect the year, perhaps 2004-2005 but there was quite an uproar here on TBN when it first occurred.
OP, did you purchase the tractor? Mine has been without any issue since new.

I believe my early 2000 tc40 has about 1/4in thick fiberglass fenders. There definitely not plastic and neither is the hood. It also has the metal grab bars.

Mine was faded and looked prety bad along with a dash so faded that you could hardly make out the hours. A bit of buffing compound and wax and you wouldnt even know its 26ish years old. Fiberglass can take alot of abuse, alot more than plastic.

I think the change from fiberglass to plastic fenders occurred when the TC**DA models were built.

My TC45DA has the plastic fenders.

What I did was built a brace from the bar that runs from the loader mast/mount to the rear axle housing. I only did it on the left side as the is the only side cracking.

I will try to get a picture of it this evening.

That said I really like my TC45DA!!!
