I also know PT offers Flail mowers for both Slope Mowers. I'm not too familiar with Flail mowers (I know how they work) but would a Flail Mower cut Lawns good or are they just meant for Rough Cutting?

In the broadest terms, they are generally used to cut large areas that are not fine grass where safety is required and the public is about, since they tend not to fling stuff like bush hogs. Think highway medians and parks.

There are fine cut flails (google paddle flail). but I doubt that PT's version qualifies. Their finish mowers aren't all that good compared to brands that specialize in lawn care equipment. There is no reason to think their flails would be any better.

If you are considering a PT flail, demo one on somebody's lawn before you commit.

Thats the only downside to us. The thing we love about Power-Trac is it's One machine with many attachments to do many jobs instead of many pieces of equipment. We would be using this machine for EVERYTHING that we can do with it. Our John Deere 5310 Cab tractor is just too big for what we do.

Whoops, I almost forgot about the Lastec Mower deal.
That seems like the way to go.

Could PT adapt a Brush Cutter from a 1445 to and 1845? (my guess is Yes)

The place is infested with Turkeys. Flock of 60 is not uncommon. Problem is, they walk across the highway and get hit. Then they flutter on to my place and die. Then I run them over with the brush hog. Then they go POOF! That tends to let the stink out of them, too.

This is something you will learn about the Power Trac... it is not the best at a lot of things, but is does a good job at a lot of things.

The professional landscaper near me that has three PTs (two 400 series and one 1430) and uses them where they are strongest... moving large amounts of loose material fast (mulch, soil, stone, etc...), digging planting holes, moving small transplants, grapple work, etc...
They have a bobcat for heavy excavating and loading removed material into dump trucks, a Kubota for their seeder and tiller and a fleet of ZTR mowers for lawn maintenance.

They do not rely on the PTs to do everything because there are better machines for certain jobs.

For a homeowner like me, the PT425 is ideal because I only have to maintain one machine and it does an 8 out of 10 on most things I have to do. Also, if it dies, I do not have any obligations to fulfill, so I am not out any money VS a commercial user.

We've hit Fencind and posts. Stumps, bricks, concerte blocks, tires, and the ocassional drain pipe. Even roadkill a few times, mainly buried in the weeds. With Deer, maybe a "Clunk" or two. With small animals, no notice. Hard to hear it from the inside of the Cab of a John Deere 5310 at nearly full power and radio going.

Well we still have our Big JD 5310 Cab with a Backhoe for the big jobs.
But everything we've done in the past mowing season is enouigh for a PT 1845 to handle.
Were also looking at Toolcat 5610, if our jobs pick up more and we need it.
(Last year was pretty slow compared to previous years).

Located in Burlington Vermont, so it would have seen some rain and some snow. Sounds like they didn't use it much for snow as they only have the bucket (and a small one). Oh, its the 4-way.... Still. Not very snow friendly setup.

IMO price seems a bit high, actually very high.

I love the accessory list, two of those items I need and do not have.

Maybe if they threw in the trailer it would be more of a deal.

As for problems, who knows... You won't know till you see it, drive it, and quiz the owner down. If he was sole operator of the gear, probably a safer purchase. If a bunch of his employees used it, you will have a machine probably not as well maintained.

Me and my Dad are interested in this machine. We'd be using it for Landscaping and Slope Mowing. Please take lots of pictures and video!
