Long term drought for Texas- :-(

Native Son, I'm east of Mineola and disregard my last post about not being threatening. There's a storm cell, possibly containing tornadoes, certainly with rotation, that looks as if it's going to run over the house in about 20 minutes. It may stay a little south of you but keep an eye on it. We're usually ready for such things but going to check and make sure just in case. Later. Be careful.

Eddie, it looks as if it's going to run right over you. Batten down the hatches. :)

Frank,

I'm watching it. They have a tornado in Van, and it's just building strength!!! Hail the size of peas, and over 900 lightning strikes in the past hour. I'm 30 minutes from getting hit. I don't know who is in more trouble, you or me?

Are you watching it on KLTV? They are showing pics of multiple tornadoes as I type this.

Looks like the long term pattern of dry has been broken, Texas is starting to get back to a normal weather pattern. Let hope so anyway. Houston is still dry though

I sure hope you and Frank miss the bad stuff and get some rain out of this. Still dry as a bone down here in Liberty Co.

Well, that was interesting.

The storm that was tracking to the NE turned almost due East and slipped by just to the south of us. I could faintly hear the sirens go off in Lindale which reportedly got hit with some 3" hail and had tornadoes all around. Unfortunately, that puts it running right over the top of Eddie. Hope that he's OK. Let us know.

At the house we got a nice 1-1/4" rain out of it and nothing too violent. Strangely, there was almost a flat calm as the storm went through. That's the first time in what seems like months that the wind hasn't been blowing in East Texas.

I can still hear rumblings all around but the sky has started to brighten up so it looks as if it's all past us. We didn't even need to evacuate to the "bunker".

Hope EVERYBODY (in Texas) misses the bad stuff and just gets wet. Wish it were true that normal patterns are returning, but can't see it at present...I've gotten no moisture of any consequence yet this year. Yes, some .4 inches followed by drying winds for days.... does no good.

Latest storms are a county or two north and east of me. Cracks in Houston Black Clay as large as 2 inches in places.

Still nothing for us. Everything was north of us except one small shower that just missed us south of here.

I watered my puny garden by hand with a bucket and water from the kid's inflatable swimming pool.:(

With all the storms I hate to resort to the Cherokee "Rain Dance" just to get a little moisture. Problem is the last time I did it I found out I could bring rain, but I didn't know how to stop it.Charlie

Maybe try dancing "backwards"

Boy, you guys in East Texas got it good today!! 8 tornados whew!! Hope all is well when the sun comes out.

It's all blown through but we haven't heard from Eddie. Some of that really bad stuff was right over him. I hope that he's OK. Still, he's a working man and may have felt the need to go to bed and get ready for work tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

It was just North of me. I was dead center for the worse of it, but then it just eased North a tad and went right past me. I received 1.57 inches of rain with a small amount of hail. Nothing very large, and not enough to even get a picture of it before it melted. The thunder was amazing, but what really impressed me was how much lightning there was. The news channel said that there was almost 1,000 hits per hour, and then it increased. I don't think they can keep track of them after that, but the pictures on TV made it look like a solid blanket of lightning strikes. I went out on my porch to see, and it was like being in a dance club with flashing strobe lights going off. It was non stop, and everywhere!!!!

I lost power multiple times and was using my Droid phone to watch the radar images on Weatherbug.

Like Frank said, Lindale got 3 inch hail. That's ten miles from my place, and I was right in line for the storm after it left Lindale.

There was also at leat four tornadoes. One of them crossed Interstate 20 and took out all sorts of trees. They had to close the Interstate because of the debris and damage. Two of the tornadoes where less then 20 miles from my brothers ranch, but he never saw anything. The other one was close to some friends of mine, but they also didn't see anything.

From the news reports, this was a very serious storm. It amazes me that a storm will start here. They just form from nothing about an hour from where I live, and then work their way across the country, getting bigger and stronger. I hope this one doesn't do any more damage, it looks like a lot of you have had enough rain already and don't need any more.

Good luck to everyone who is in path of this storm.

Eddie
