It was just North of me. I was dead center for the worse of it, but then it just eased North a tad and went right past me. I received 1.57 inches of rain with a small amount of hail. Nothing very large, and not enough to even get a picture of it before it melted. The thunder was amazing, but what really impressed me was how much lightning there was. The news channel said that there was almost 1,000 hits per hour, and then it increased. I don't think they can keep track of them after that, but the pictures on TV made it look like a solid blanket of lightning strikes. I went out on my porch to see, and it was like being in a dance club with flashing strobe lights going off. It was non stop, and everywhere!!!!
I lost power multiple times and was using my Droid phone to watch the radar images on Weatherbug.
Like Frank said, Lindale got 3 inch hail. That's ten miles from my place, and I was right in line for the storm after it left Lindale.
There was also at leat four tornadoes. One of them crossed Interstate 20 and took out all sorts of trees. They had to close the Interstate because of the debris and damage. Two of the tornadoes where less then 20 miles from my brothers ranch, but he never saw anything. The other one was close to some friends of mine, but they also didn't see anything.
From the news reports, this was a very serious storm. It amazes me that a storm will start here. They just form from nothing about an hour from where I live, and then work their way across the country, getting bigger and stronger. I hope this one doesn't do any more damage, it looks like a lot of you have had enough rain already and don't need any more.
Good luck to everyone who is in path of this storm.
Eddie
