The real rain finally arrived. It may not last long, but is sure a downpour for awhile anyway.:)

It was over by 10 p.m. and I had about two-thirds of an inch of rain in my gauge; couldn't ask for much better than that.

Bird, I saw your rain last night on the news. All yesterday afternoon, I would go outside to work on something and it would start to rain. So, I'd come inside and it would quit. Back out. . . rain. . .inside. . . quit. Sheesh! I didn't get enough to measure, but at least my deck got solid wet a couple of times. Maybe today I'll get some rain. I would love to put out fertilizer, but I don't want to have to water it in. I'm afraid if I put it out, the rain won't come and I'll just burn my grass. Maybe I'm just too full of excuses and should go ahead. It's not like it's a lot of work. I have a spreader I pull around behind my mower and it's a snap to use.

Jim, I reckon we just got lucky this time. The NWS shows officially that Denton only got .05" so the storm cell that passed over us was small and south of Denton's airport. I had watered some after spreading the Scotts Turf Builder, but knew if it didn't rain, I'd need to do more watering today. I guess I saw the clouds that sprinkled on you earlier yesterday. In fact, I hurried a little bit to get through mowing and spreading the fertilizer because I could see clouds coming, but we didn't get a drop until late yesterday.

I ended up with 2/10ths. Went to Ft worth and it rained all the way there. As dry as it is here I will take it when I can.

That 3 + inches we got a week or so ago has really greened things up, I've actually had to mow twice in 7 day's!

This is likely a thread though that the folks in the Mississippi river delta hate, those poor people.

Well, Dennis and Bird, we are all very lucky today with these storms moving through. I got 1-1/4 inches with no hail and no wind of any consequence. I noticed the Austin/Bryan/Waco triangle might get the tail end of these for some relief. Hope so! However, San Antonio to Houston still looks like it will be dry unless there is some instability in the atmosphere as this cool front pushes toward the Gulf and eastward.

When the front first hit here we had some pretty strong winds, but no damage as far as I know and no hail. So far I've only gotten about .6" today, but with that from yesterday, I'm over one and a quarter, and we're still getting a light rain, so I don't know how much I'm going to get. It looks great though.

This morning Margaret got out of bed about 5 a.m. and went in the kitchen, then came back to bed. I couldn't imagine what she was doing up that early, but didn't ask. Later I found out she heard someone gunning an engine and went and looked out to see a neighbor across the street had his pickup off the paved driveway and stuck in the yard. I don't know how long it took him to get out, but I see he used a sheet of plywood and some other boards and now he'll have a mess in the yard to clean up.

Guys ... I got 1/2 inch last night. BAD winds about 11:30 my wife thought everything had blowed away ... I slept right threw it ...this morning all was well for us, I heard my neighbors to the northwest just 2 miles lost the barn and others had bad damage ... raining again here now

There is a front moving across the state right now. We have a 30% chance for rain later tonight but looking at the radar, I'm thinking it might cross just north of us. :(:(

I got around the same as Jim did. Perfect kind of rain, drizzle for half the day, then the downpour for the pond. I don't think the wind got over 20mph here, but I saw on the news a few places had trouble.

Looks like Eddie's getting a dose too

The rain was over here by 7 p.m. and my rain gauge had about .78" so I figure I got about 1.45" for the 2 days. With the fertilizer I had just put down, that oughta get the grass to really growing.:)

7/10th in my gauge this morning ... good rain and it stayed calm.

Yeah, lots of booming and lightning and 3/4 inches of rain in the gauge this morning.

My guage shows 1-1/2" of rain, but I wasn't smart enough to put out fertilizer like Bird.:(

In the months of April and May, the New Orleans area has gotten 0" of rain. It has rained all around us but the storms have completely missed our area.

Since we usually get so much rain, I enjoyed the drought for the first month but now I am tired of watering the grass and plants.

They give us 60% chance of rain for tomorrow but we have had 90% chance of heavy rain a couple times last month and it missed both times.

.75 of an inch at my place last night and it looks like an even bigger/stronger storm is on it's way here today. My lake is still way down and the warmer it gets, the more nervous I become of not having a full pool for summer!!!

I will officially declare the drought over for my little piece of Texas.
Yesterday, in the early AM we received .4" followed by 4.8" falling between noon and 10:00 PM.
Got out to survey the damages this AM around 7:30. Found about 200 feet of road washed out and some serious damage to three culverts under the road. Approximately 300 feet of fencing damaged of which about 100' that will have to be replaced.
It is pouring rain as I type this with the weather radar showing the front, dropping the rain, running from Uvalde, to the SW, up to Hico, to the NE. Lots and lots of red in that front.
Guess I won't need to be looking for something to do for a while.

Hico needs the rain too, I have a couple of friends down there that are worried about their hay crops. This should help them out.

I don't know what this will do to our moisture deficit, sure would like to get 4-5 day's of "drizzle" and get a real soaking.

Eddie, you still have that big 6" main water line ?? that would fill it up!!

1.6 inches last night, a smigen of runoff into our dry tanks. Another rain this morning, over now. I'm not going to declare the drought over yet.... not nearly. Barely puddles around the house from roof runoff.

Weldingisfun, sorry to hear about your flood damage....hope all your critters are still at home.

We had no rain this winter or spring. All the showers missed us. This afternoon we had 3" in an hour. There is a light rain now that I hope continues for a few hours.

I haven't checked to see how much we got last night. It did however rain from 3pm to 1am solid. We got quite a bit of rain. More storms are due in the next few hours. We need it!
