I buy them at logging and sawmill shows, I see them at chainsaw dealers too... BUT, you can order them on line too... They are just cheaper at the bigger shows...

Go to bing dot com and put in logging choker chain, they will come up...

This type of choker is excellent for those using a winch. For those of us that simply "chain up and drag in", my preference is this tool and using standard chain with slip hook and clevis as a very handy combination when out in the woods. With the clevis, you have the opportunity of tying in shorter, more easily handled chain when needing extra length. A lot of bang for the buck.

I agree with most the 5/16" G70 chain is perfect for this type of use.

I ended up ordering 6 more of the locking grab hooks and 2 of the locking slip hooks. I already use the grab hooks on certain lifts, but I wanted a chain with 2 grab hooks and a chain with 1 grab and 1 slip hook. Then an extra pair for my brother. I really like the safety benefits of these hooks.

Here's from another thread. 5/16" Choker Chain Hook

I recently got 3 hooks from these guys. On sale $4. Amazon has similar for $25ish without shipping. I got all 3 for under that shipped. Within a few days. Mounted them, but haven't used yet.

Besides skidding logs, I am going to put one on the UTV. Figure will be good for getting down trees off the trail.

I find that 15' of gr70 x 5/16 with a grab hook on one end and a slip hook on the other is pretty handy if you also have a ten footer and a couple of five footers to go along with it. On my JD4300 these are light enough to use and strong enough to work.
I have a 50' 3/8 chain that hasn't left the barn in years but the "price was right"... I started out with a bunch of tie down chains off car carriers that worked super but they develop "legs", even when painted...
