Hey guys,

Doing some mods to my 27 ton Troybuilt(MTD) log splitter.

I was sick of tilting the splitter vertically and working on my knees or blowing out my back and picking up the big pieces.
So...... I added a log lift on one side and better tables on either side of the I-beam.

Well the time change is here and it is DARK.
Has anyone ever put and LED on a log splitter? It is a Honda 160cc engine

Suggestions?

Work closer to the out buildings. Use the yard lights.

There are all sorts of solar flood lights available. As long as they get an all day charge, they'll last at least a few hours.

When it's light could you take some pics of your mods? They sound interesting.

What is the complete model of the Honda engine?

Can a lighting coil be added?

One thing I did to my Swisher splitter was I had a buddy weld about another 14" on to the tongue. Now when I need to hook it up to the UTV I ran the ram out to shift the weight rearwards. That makes the tongue fairly light and a little easier to back it up without jackknifing. It's also much lighter to just walk the thing back into a corner to store it.

I added about 30” inches on my splitter tongue so I could keep it hooked to the truck and load the truck. I’m considering counter balancing the back because it’s too heavy to lift the front by myself. IMG_7070.JPG

I don’t think the Honda puts off much if any available electric for powering a light. You might use a deep cycle battery that you take off to charge. Second option is a generator. I do most of my splitting under a cover and I put up four 300 watt light bulbs. IMG_7774.JPG
