don't know if there is such a thing for a tractor. but am curious as to why u would want one?not being funny here, are u having a problem with fuel theft or could it be for safety reasons?

Brutus has a locking cap. Not so much a locking cap as a cap that I can put a padlock on. It has a tab with hole in it that when tightened, alignes with anther piece on the filler tube. Could you somehow weld a tab like that on your current cap and a corresonding tab on the filler tube and simply make one?

Well I have a couple of nephews that want to help me when I put in the yard, add trees, grade our 600ft lane, etc. Anyway, I do not want them to add straight gas to a diesel engine. An ounce prevention is a pound cure (?) Er something like that. Anyway, that's all I want it for. I almost did it with my fathers J.D. His fuel cans were almost identical, and boy did he get a rush when he saw me almost ready to tip that 'ol gasoline right in!!!

winger; I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT. good idea. young folks can be dangerous to a tractor. why i remembe a case about 50 years ago when this young fella was helping his uncle on the farm, now this wippersnapper could drive a tractor but other than that he was dumb. so uncle says, boy fill her up with gas, so he did, but it did not take any , just overflowed imeadiatly, seems like the young boy did not know the gas cap from the radiator cap./w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif GUESS WHO THAT WAS?

Frank, a farmer neighbor told me a couple of years ago about a hired hand he had who did the same thing to one of his big John Deere tractors./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Maybe you could come up with some type of color coding for your fuel cans your nephews can understand. Say, aren't diesel fuel cans supposed to be yellow /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif? Gas cans are supposed to be red /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif? Might just work /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

BIRD: i swear that wasn't me/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif once was enough!the best part of that old story is my uncle never got mad, he just said it was his fault, should have showed me, then he laughed and said just glad u didn't put water in the gas tank!
