I HATE those loud Bikes and don't know why they don't get fined. At least the riders will go deaf. Some justice in that.

LOL, it doesn't matter if you are on a bike, in a car, or in a semi truck, they are going to drift into your lane, loud pipes won't keep them away, they will just annoy the rest of us.

If it stops one..just one ..that hears me before they see me...and looks in a mirror instead of a phone. Than it's worth it. I have no way of actually knowing if or how many times it already has done just that..but I'm certain it's more than a few.

I don't think that anything short of an accident reaches some drivers. I've had plenty drift over the white line towards me walking during the day. If you aren't a car, you're particularly invisible.
I get the principal behind the noise, I just don't like it in my house.
I get drift overs in my car every day. Noise from a rear pointed exhaust is not going to help if the car is in front of you. There really is no proof or evidence that loud exhaust does anything whatsoever to prevent accidents. When I can hear a bike go by when I am on my mower with ear protection there is an issue. what about my right to NOT listen to it vs the riders right to have an illegal exhaust....... no brainer

The young kids put the FART cans on their singer sewing machine hondas for for EXACT same reason. Look at me, look at me!

Try wearing a hiviz green. They will see you.

I've seen riders wearing ear plugs... that should tell them something.

All that you really do is piss off a lot of motorists who otherwise would be your allies.

Coming home one night from a job in NY, I pulled out around a car travelling slow. As I got up beside him all of a sudden I heard a chainsaw running. WTF? It was 9:00 at night, well after dark. I had gotten past him and pulled in before realizing that it was the car beside me and the driver wanted to race. PFFT. I was running a tuned GM 4.3, had been driving 10 hours, and hadn't been home in weeks. Try again when you have about 4 more cylinders, kid.

Exactly, sound is directional. Unless your exhaust tip points to one side, it's not doing diddly squat for a the car next to you who's blind spot you are sitting in.

Try wearing a hiviz green. They will see you.

Highviz and running with your lights on all the time will help you be seen, a loud exhaust will just give you tinnitus and annoy the driver's around you.

Don't paint everyone with the same brush. I wear earplugs when I ride because the wind or chill causes balance problems due to many childhood ear surgeries. Things aren't always what they appear to be.
And I see the thread has been hijacked by several into a motorcycle exhaust crusade.

They had a guy in our state that deleted all his emission controls on his new diesel truck.

Guy got a $13,000 fine, plus had to get his emission controls installed back on his truck.

Just another example of the overall gist of public roadways & driver/rider discourse. The lack of respect, courtesy, and driving coherence & skill continues to decline, as misuse of technology furthers the cause.
