I prefer factory exhaust on my 'Milwaukee Mopeds'.

Y'know, I was really concerned that vehicles in front of me wouldn't hear my OEM mufflers.

I even got an estimate to have my pipes modified to point forward. Hah!

Like shotguns, diesel air horns, and megaphones are, I'd completely forgotten how their sounds aren't directional either, so no need to.

IMO, loud pipes are a way of saying, "If my Dad was here, I'd beat his a__ too, so get TF outa my way!" :D

The clickity clack of that springer front end is probably louder than my pipes..

My wife bought me a brand new Harley for my 55th birthday in 1998. FXDL - Harley Low Rider. I modified the exhausts. Put on turn out straight pipes. The nice thing - I could go quiet if I wanted. They DID NOT have to be loud all the time. However - if I wanted, in second gear I could dam near blow the windows out of the stores along Main Street in downtown Cheney. The Cheney Weenies didn't like the loud pipes either. They told me that - several times.

I gave the Harley to my son three years ago. I ride a 2018 BMW R1200GSA now. Quiet as a mouse urinating on a cotton ball.

Meanwhile I’ve been sitting in this motel room, listening to some guy’s Cummings rattling away 10 feet from my window. Is it really necessary to let it run for an hour? I seriously considered going out and shutting it off but don’t really need the bloody nose which would probably ensue.

Never heard a Cummins rattle. Cat maybe, Cummins, never. Interestingly, all of my Kubota's rattle. Must be the injection pump or combustion chamber shape or location if the injector.

I find that sound....comforting.

Not everybody shares your opinion... especially when it’s directly outside your window. After two hours I headed out to the motel office to complain and noticed two guys sitting in it. After several requests for them to shut it off, I turned into that bugeyed screaming, drooling idiot which everybody hates.
It worked. This AM when my coworker left the room, our neighbor thanked him for speaking up.

"One gallon, .. two gallons, ..."

And I'm happy just to watch a guy smoke-off a few thousand miles worth of tire tread in a single cloud of Macho-ness.

"One thousand, .. two thousand, ..."

Where else does 75 feet of 'Look at Me!' equate to several thou$and miles of ROI squandered? ;)

Thanks, anyway, I'll stick to burning smokeless powder.
