They say that in a polluted city, the exhaust coming out of a Tier 4 Final is cleaner than the air going in.
Seems reasonable that if city is polluted by unburned hydrocarbons, the next engine sucking them in could burn them.
And the catalytic converter could clean them up further.
But it's not a good reason to take a deep breath.
You know that control on the dash where you choose "outside air" or "recirculate inside air" ?
Soon theyre gonna plumb the tailpipe into the car.
