Loader Loader won't float

The loader on my DK45 will no longer stay in float position. unless I manually hold the joystick down and then it floats. What would cause this?

Does it even feel like the spool tries to detent when you push on the lever? If no I would first double check the linkage moving the spool to make sure nothing has worked loose preventing the spool from shifting into into detent. Next I would look at the detent assembly located under the cover on the opposite end of the valve spool. over time rust or debris can sometimes collect in this area causing the detent to fail.

Yes, it will move into the detent position but then it seems to pop out after a second or two and at that point I have downward pressure and it lifts the front end of the tractor up. Like I said, I can hold it in detent position and it works fine but that a pain.

Sounds like you need to investigate the detent assembly on your valve. Would your dealer provide you with a parts break down of this valve If not most of these valves have springs and balls that drop into a slot on the spool. If these springs get weak or broke or the slot fills with debris the detent will not engage fully.

Not sure about the valves that Kioti uses but most detents use bearing balls that slip into a machined sleeve...if the balls get a little rusted they no longer hold their positions...

It is very typical for moisture to accumulate in the detent etc. (bottom of spool) caps...

You can remove the cap and see what it looks like...

it is a good general maintenance tip to check all SCV spool caps for moisture etc...many have drain holes that get clogged...a detent should be greased on a basis of how much it is used...
