loader will not go up and down

I have a Kubota L4310 w/ LA681 loader. The joystick will go left and right and curl the bucket. The joystick will not move up and down at all. Maybe someone can help. Any suggestions?

sounds like a problem in the control valve but what end of it.......the handle end could be as simple as the linkage unscrewed or broken. the other end will have a detent that could be jammed, rusted, broken, or unscrewed. first thing i'd do is, if it has a boot below the handle, pull it up and take a look. take care no one is near the loader while you'r working on it......you wouldn't ant it to drop on someone.

first thing I'd do is check to see if any qd's are loose.. if you have qd's that is. pop and reseat the ones on the afected circuits.

Is this a cab model with a remote valve? If so the cable could be stuck or binding, or the spring loaded part with the detent for float, could have water in it that has frozen. Ice will prevent it from moving. KennyV

A while ago one fellow had some mechanicals become detached from the joystick. The ice could also be a factor if the tractor is sitting outside in freezing conditions. Sometimes this may melt as the hydraulics heat up and you keep activating the the curl function. Or, if ice, application of heat to the bottom of the valve body may do the job. The heat source may be as simple as a hair drier or heat gun used in electrical wiring applications. Even pouring boiling water over it may work.

concretescott: You didn't mention where you live, but if you are where the temperature goes below freezing there could be condensation in the loader control valve that freezes and impedes operation of the valve. We have an L3830, and I had that problem a couple years ago. Someone on this site had the remedy, which was to drill eighth-inch drain holes in the lowest part of the valve. One hole for the up-down valve and one for the bucket dump valve. I did it on a mild day and water ran out when I got the holes drilled. I then srayed some WD40 in the holes to displace the water. I had a friend with a different model Kubota with the same problem. He drilled the holes and it fixed his, too.
