loader relief valve

This brings up a question I never have been sure of. Does the FEL relieve pressure from the common port ahead of the work ports? What happens if you have your FEL relief set at 2500 psi but your backhoe relief set at 2000 psi. I have always thought that the FEL work ports would limit at 2500 and the hoe ports would limit at 2000. But if you went the other way around and set your FEL at 2000 and backhoe at 2500, everything would limit at 2000 psi.

Yeah, that's right. Upstream valves with their own relief on a single pump system will need to at the same
or higher setting versus downstream valves that have their own RV.

All this is assuming the FEL is ahead of the hoe in the circuit, and open center valves.
Pressure is only exposed to the dedicated relief valve when a function of the corresponding valve is operated. All feeds are in a continuous loop with a pressure beyond plug except for the last device in the loop, if your system is setup this way. In loop systems the preceding valve will disable the rest of the loop until it is released. ie..in some systems the loader will disable the 3PH when operated if you are trying to operate both at once. There can be multiple feeds from the same pump as well, ie..power steering would be separate so that it is not affected by the operation of another function at the same time or it could even be a separate pump as well with its own relief. Hope this doesn't confuse things even more?

Ooops, left out 'be set'.

Should say, "Upstream valves with their own relief on a single pump system will need to be set at the same

Right, I understood. Thank you.
