I had a issue the other day when I locked the loader in the raised position with the hold valve, I got a severe leak from one of the loader hydraulic lines. It turned out to be a bad line from the factory and was leaking from the crimp connection and Summit sent me a replacement directly. While trying to locate the leak I noticed that with the loader hold valve only partially closed/open, the loader raise and lower operation is much smoother. Is it OK to operate the loader with the valve like this?

Yes, it's ok to run like that. It's just an hydraulic ball valve after all. Being partially open/closed will work as a flow restrictor which is something often used to adjust the speed of an hydraulic function.

A flow restrictor will allow for fine tuning while the ball valve it's a bit harder to fine tune.

Flow restrictors have basically two options. One it restricts the flow both way just like you're doing. The other option restricts the flow in one way but allows full flow on the other way. Meaning you could adjust the speed the loader lowers but still allow for full speed to raise.

EDIT: For some reason this sub forum is under post approval. Have no idea why.
