@ breadtrk, I agree. I am in search of some cats... I never thought I would actually ever say that, but I am. They are actually pretty effective I'm told.

@ underdog57, get busy! I would think it would be even worse in the north. I would have never dreamed that they would set up camp under the hood... And it don't take long for them to cause machine debilitating damage.

If it EVER STOPS RAINING I'll get back to tractor **** pictures. We have been averaging an inch a week for the past several months. It's soggy!

Well, today I performed my 50hr service... Well part of it, at 58 hrs. Since its still so freaking wet I cannot bush hog, I figured I'll get ready for the new season to use my LS P7010C. Here is the oil change procedure.

First you need a 12mm allen wrench or socket to get the drain plugs out. It has one on each side of the oil pan. I did notice that all drain and fill points are marked with white paint. Nice.



Next you need a creative funnel apparatus. This was all I could find. Really needs to be flexible. Transmission funnel worked, barley and needed both hands.



Here is the location of the oil fill. Its tight!



Filter change is tight too. It doesn't show well, but there is a wiring harness and fuel line very close to the filter. Makes getting a filter wrench on interesting.



Oil of choice. Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15W-40... Not really, just on sale at O'Rileys! $12.99/gallon. Requires 2.3 gallons, (about 9 quarts)... Dang metric system.



This is all I have done recently. I wish we would stop getting an inch plus a week! I ready to mow down about 40 acres.

Well I cannot use my P7010C yet, still very wet. I don't want to rut up the fields. So, I decided to replace the radio antenna that I managed to break off at about 6 hours on a tree limb.

This is what was left of the OEM antenna.



So I figured out how to open the roof to access the antenna. Remove 4 nuts and unplug the front cab work lights, raises right up. It even had a prop rod stowed inside!

Cheap OEM speakers, I will replace the later with coaxial or triaxial speakers later. May even add a small powered sub behind the seat.



New antenna installed and roof secured. The OEM replacement was $50-$60... WHAT!?!? :shocked: These LS OEM parts are insanely expensive. Found this antenna on Amazon for about $10. I positioned it facing rearward (like the OEM) to minimize snagging on limbs. Just have to remember to be aware when backing up! This antenna is about 15" long. The OEM was about 6" or 8".



This antenna seems to actually be better than the OEM. I could even tune into the University's low powered radio station (250 watts I believe).



This is all I have for now. Hopefully by mid May I'll start bush hogging and other tractoring that I am WAY behind on.

Great pictures Charles and good information. I broke my antenna off the same way, but I was able to drill out the broken piece and epoxy the old one back in. At least we all know how to open up the roof to get at everything. Your doing an excellent job keeping us informed, thanks.

I have no idea where the antenna broke. I probably had my phone plugged in playing MP3's or Pandora at the time. It was when I went to catch a ball game that I noticed that I could only get reception going in one direction. Thats when I found it was snapped off. If I had the remains, I would have attempted to repair. Actually, I had thought about drilling out and using a piece of 12ga copper wire... It appeared to be a fiberglass element that probably had graphite or other conductive material in it. Not friendly to flex! The rubber duck antenna should last a while.

Update.

Fuel tank developed a split. Weeping diesel. New tank ordered. $750 with TAX. Will document the tank replacement once I receive it.

It has been one of the most dependable purchases I have ever made. 773 hours.

I got WAY behind with this thread. Photobucket blocked pictures for a while and I gave up on forums. Now many forums allow you to upload directly, makes it easy to post pics!

773 hours. 0 issues since the Rat incident. Tractor is a beast. Just mowed about 15 acres or so with 10' 3pt cutter in M3-M4, PTO in 750 and 1500 rpm. I think it could pull a 15' batwing.

Fuel tank replacement. Tank developed a split. Replacement tank was $754.

Never empty when you need to work on a fuel tank.

Found a grease fitting I didn't know existed. Greased it. Now clutch pedal does not squeek anymore!

777.7 hours

Have I mentioned I really, really like this 10' cutter?

Needed to service cutter. Backing into brush and trees bent tailwheel forks. Also a hub had lost it's bearings.

New forks. One 1". One 3/4". Both need to be 1". Strange times in the supply chains.

Welded gussets on both sides of fork. Should not bend like the previous forks.

Gear boxes topped off with 00 grease, 2 new tailwheel forks, 1 new hub, sharpened blades.

Cut it low.

Am I looking at it wrong, or was the metal bracket over tightened and squeezed the tank causing the split?
Mybe put some sort of rubber strip between the metal and the new tank??

Correct, my thoughts also. It appeared over tightened from day 1. It has foam where it sits on brace and where straps go. Thinking 8 years and 780 hours of over compression.

Split was at rear strap location, inboard lower corner. I only snugged straps enough to hold tank in position.
