Not sure about anybody else or if this has been posted already but it seems to me that browsing on the TBN server(s) has slowed down. Not sure if this is related to the new little moving green tractor at the top of the page.....but it would seem so. Used to be able to navigate much quicker through the forums. Any other web sites that I used to access still operate as usual.

Vic,

This has been brought up by a number of times in the past several days.

1) The current John Deere ad is fairly resource intensive.

2) Often a user's setup will have multiple types of ad blockers, email filters, anti-virus ware and spy ware, etc. All of these need to evaluate any script that runs off a web site. Technically, it is probably this more than anything that causes the worst of the problems for certain users.

3) Muhammad has posted privately to the moderators that he will take these issues to John Deere and see if any optimization can be done that would improve load times.

4) For the time being, the ads are in a contracted rotation, and will run for some more days.

Hope this helps your understanding.

Hakim I haven't seen the John Deere Ad for several days. Is it currently "off" due to contractual rotation? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Rusty

Rusty,

The campaign is not "off". However, these schedules are automatically adjusted constantly to appear more or less often in different forums for various objectives. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am not directly involved with the ad campaigns, but I do know that as the month proceeds and views objectives are met, the number of appearances will drop back somewhat. So that is probably what is going on.

I am sorry that the ads cause problems for some users.

But, I am glad to see tham. TBN is a very valuable resource that likely has cost HakimMuhammadIbrahim&Co. a bundle so that we can enjoy it. I hope that the advertising is helping.

Piloon / Hakim,

Thanks for the response. Sounds like that could very well be it. I did just install Windows XP & McAffee's virus protection programs 6 weeks ago.

Thanks Again,

Vic

Easy to get around them.. as another poster has explaine din another thread int his forum. if using IE, go to tools, then 'manage add-ons'.. then click to disable macrobmediae flash player... that kills the animated scrolling adds. Websites that want flash player will pop up a small reminder bubble near the tool bar for about a second to let you know that you can turn on flash to see more stuff.

I was that other poster. Even the little bubble goes away after a few times. The JD ad simply appears with the tractor already assembled. No other browsing side effects yet.

Yep.. same here.. no more bubble, I just get a little yellow exclamation point down in the ie tool bar letting me know the web site wants a plug in that is disabled.

Much faster so far.. and no other problems on the few tractor sites i haunt..

So now there are blue and red ads! They clash with my color scheme! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Glad to see that there are more colors supporting 'our' site... Where's orange?
