Lights flickering on lawn tractor

The lights on my Craftsman lawn tractor flicker when I go over bumps (as if a wire is loose). BOTH do it.

Any ideas on fixing this problem would be appreciated.

More than likely oxidation on connectors in the lamp circuit or the wire harness. You would have to unplug them and look inside the connectors to see if they are corroded. Some times you can get contact cleaner at the autoparts store or Radio Shack. If you get the contacts cleaned up then put some dielectric grease in the connectors before you put them back together. Also look at the ground connections from the battery to frame. If it starts ok you battery connections may be good. It doesn't hurt to take of the battery clamps and clean those up.

Also check to see where the lights are grounded. I have seen a couple of models that used the hood pivot bolts as the ground point.(Not sure if this was factory or home owner) After opening the hood a few times the connections become loose.

ditto that.. the lamps on my murray ground to the hood, which pivots. ie.. imperfect ground.
