License Bracket

I need to put a license plate on the back of my Gator HPX, dealer suggested tailgate but I am not too keen on drilling that. I noticed some plate holders on a web search but was wonderering for those who need to run plates how have they been mounted?

I'd suggest one of those rubber mounts like on a boat trailer. Make your own.

Can you weld? I fab'd up a bar out of 1" square tubing with two vertical lugs that bolt through the supports under the bed using existing holes. Painted it JD green and it looks factory. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up well in the picture.

I missed the part about needing a license plate. Can you run them on the highway system if they are registered ? They can't be runon the snowmobile trail system here being too wide for the regulations. Even if one could it would only require a 3x3 inch sticker visible from the side.

I have a 2009 XUV and mounted my license plate to the muffler. The heat shield around the muffler has slots in it and I used 1/4 by 2 inch full thread bolts. Put the bolt with a washer against the head thru the hole in the shield. Put a nut on and tighten it against the shield. Thread a nut on a about a 1/2 inch and then a washer, the license plate, a washer then another nut. Looks good and it out of the way. If you mount it tight against the shield it will discolor the license plate.
