I'm trying to remove the gearbox on an old Bush Hog RB60S. I'm able to remove all but two bolts, both on the backside of the gearbox. They run up from the mounting plate into the gearbox. Problem is there is not enough vertical clearance for a socket and not enough horizontal clearance for a wrench. And my box-end ratchet won't fit around the bolt head. The only thing that I can think to do is to cut off the tail wheel bracket to get the horizontal clearance that I need. I REALLY don't want to do that! Any other suggestion?

A ratcheting box end of the correct size should work on that, you might try an obstruction wrench. If the tailwheel bracket is welded on, it would be easier to take a hole saw and cut an access hole in the deck so you can get at it from underneath with a socket and extension.

How about with a cutting torch and some skill, cut the side off that nut and knock it off. Tractor supply got plenty of them
