Lets talk massey's

So much discussion of other brands do not see much massey discussions. I have my very dependable 1233 with almost 1000 hrs. and my recently purchased 2705e with about 35 hrs. Being a former kubota owner (still operate a b2710 and l3901 on my farm job) i never thought i'd own any other brand but, with that being said i love my massey fergusons and would like to heat from other owners of these nice machines. Also would like to see massey marketing step it up. Deere and kubota have nice commercials and massey ferguson should also.

I agree, they make nice tractors and hold there value.

I've had my MF 1529 for 3 years. I average about 125 hours per year between plowing snow, managing deer plots, cutting firewood, brushing trails, chipping wood, etc. It's the first MF I've owned....no complaints so far. I have to admit the hydrostatic drive is nice.

I have the 2705E, only ~100 hours in, I still put 100-150 hours on my old TO-35 every year. hour meter stop working at 3k about 20 years ago, and now it needs the pump rebuilt.

We use primarily Massey Ferguson in our horse operations. Fine tractor; great service.

I'm going the other way. From Massey to Kubota but the reason has nothing to do with quality.

I recently traded my Massey 1547 powershuttle, open station for a used Massey 1749 cab with HST. Oddly I got it from a Kubota dealer that took it in on trade. I really liked my 1547 but wanted a cab and HST. I love the new Massey but this particular tractor has issues. When I got it about 2 or 3 months ago it only had 185 hrs on it. It now has 250 hrs on it and over $4,000 in repairs but it continues to have problems. I really wanted to look at a new Massey 1760M but my local dealer doesn't have any and doesn't plan on getting any in. There are no 1760M's in my province to look at and there is only one in the next Province. My local Kubota dealer has 2 2019 L6060's in stock and there are a bunch more at other dealers nearby. I even got to take an L6060 home for a demo. It seems that in this part of the country there are a lot more Kubota's available and the dealers are bigger. Makes it very hard to stay a Massey customer around here.

So the reason for my switch is because of availability and support. Not because of quality. I really wished there was a 1760M somewhere close by that I could have checked out.

My dad bought a used 1974 MF135 in '75, from a widow who was selling her late husband's farm equipment. It's been a good tractor over the years, I think its got about 2400 hours on it now. Injector pump got freshened up a few years back, and a new clutch at the same time. It doesnt see much use anymore, I'll use it during hay season some, but not sure if it will do much more than sit now that dad passed away. Theres a neighbor guy that helps out that uses it some.

Do not understand the lack of support, as massey ferguson has always been well respected in the "tractor world" for decades. Too bad the issues you had. I keep my fingers crossed on my new purchase hoping it will be as dependable as my 1233 has been. Wanted to go back kubota but, with features and comfort i got with the 2705 kubota price was out of budget.
