Let's lose a tractor!

/ Let's lose a tractor! #21
I'm about 265 and I should be around 185 since I'm 6' tall and 61 yo. Being realistic, I need to lose at least to 200. I can do it with a sub-1000 calorie per day diet. That's what it takes for my metabolism.

I'm in for this effort. Starting tomorrow, 1-2-2009, I'm going down, down, down. With any luck, I'll help push this from a SCUT to a CUT lost.:)

I'm 248.6, 5'10" and want to break 200 by Easter, should be doable now that I'm in my last four weeks of therapy and then out comes the chainsaw and wood splitter, in moderation for sure. The tractor is sure to love a little attention also, it's feeling neglected for the last couple of months.

Not proud to admit it but i am 260 [how did that happen] i am 5'9, my metabolism has just seemed to slow right down the last couple of years.

My goal is to lose 60lbs by summer. i will be joining the Y soon.

A year ago I was at 190, up from 170 since retirement 9 months earlier. I found it just wasn't convenient to continue the daily swimming at the Y and I found myself eating a snack while playing on the computer each night before I went to bed. I finally realized I needed to do something when I checked my blood pressure and it was very high. I quit the snacks and started back swimming for an hour up to four days a week now and also walk for an hour when I can. I had to get on blood pressure medicine anyway but I did get back down to 170. I have gotten back to 175+ during the holidays with the eating and not doing the exercise. I still need to cut back on the evening meal but I'm so hungry by then that I just eat too much. If I can control that I might can get back to the 150 or 155 I really should be at like when I was 20 years old. I'm 68 inches tall with a small build. I wasn't skinny at 150.
I'll try to contribute the weight of the tractor seat.
20 pounds.

I recently read a study that this whole eating before bedtime is a big tale, not true. They said it's not when you're eating, but what and how much.

I went and bought lots of fruits and some veggies. Been grabbing a yogurt or banana instead of the cookies for the last few days. Went to the parents today and could not resist the chocolate cake. I will run a little further tomorrow. For the last five days I have went for at least 30 minutes on the treadmill. Don't know if the calorie counter is accurate, but it sure makes me feel good when it shows 300+ calories burned.

Well I guess I'm in. Hard to admit it but since football in college ( some 45 years ago) I've put on almost 50 lbs. I don't expect to get back to my playing weight of 225 but I'll set my goal for 35 lbs by mid summer.

Since I've becomea diabetic, loosing weight is very hard, my doctor admits it's a chore due to the diet I have to maintain but I have to put my mind to it and work at it.

Here's where we're at so far. There are 10 of us that have chimed in with weight goals. The goal so far is a grand total of 292.6 pounds. WayneCountyHose and mjarrels have yet to post with their weight gain goals, and Tallyho8 is going to give us his goals after January 17.

Unless we can peer pressure some other TBNers to join us, this is the tractor we're trying to lose.

It's not too late for any watchers sitting on the fence waiting to jump in.

...But I always thought it was the wedding ring that made her gain weight.

Nope, it's got to be the cake. By the time we got through greeting people in our reception line the wedding cake was all gone. My wife has been complaining about it for 10 years, but after all that time she's still way hot!

She's worn her ring religiously the whole time.

The wedding cake also decreases their ability to be in the mood.

While I'm here I guess I'll join in and try to drop about 20-25lbs. I'm 6'1" and 235 lb. today. Hoping for 210-215. Anything less than 200 and everyone asks me if I'm sick.

Wouldn't gaining a tractor be more fun??? :D Neighbor and me are in a race for the 250 club... Not sure if you win or loss if you get there first...

Put me down for the usual... 20 lbs.

I weighed this morning, I lost a lug nut.
Being in on this reminds me of another group diet that I was in on back in the early '70's. I was working in a corrugated factory and six of us guys working on the 11p to 7a shift decided to see who could loose the most weight from Jan 1 to Mar 1 and the winner would collect $1.00 per Lb. for every Lb that he lost from each of the other five. One of the guys named Jim run a gun shop during the day and lived alone in a little room in the back with a bed and table and fridge. He came in one shift telling about waking up in the evening so hungry and going to the fridge and all that was there was half a jar of grape jelly, he finished it off, another time it was nothing but an onion. He took a lot of ribbing all through the three months and come weigh in time, Mar 1 he had lost the least. After weigh in, I went to the car and brought in the pineapple upside down cake that the wife had baked for him, he sat there in front of all of us and ate the whole cake.

Progress is progress!

I'm not doing so good on my exercise goal, but I am doing pretty good at not eating after 7:30 pm. I haven't weighed yet, but I feel better.

I've tallied up the last few who have joined in. We're up to a goal of 350 pounds.

It's not too late for any lurkers to join in.

I'm getting a little sick of celery and carrot sticks, but it's sure nice to not feel like I have to hold my breath to tie my shoes. I don't think I've really lost any weight yet, but I'm not keeping my belly full all the time, so I have more room there.

Time to report our progress. Post your current weight and anything you've been doing that has worked or hasn't worked for you.

I'm 179; down 4 pounds from where I started... much to my surprise. I've kept a few carrot sticks in the fridge at work so that when I get munchy I grab a few carrots instead of candy or chips out of the vending machine. I've also not eaten after 7:30 pm. There's no magic to food eaten after that time. It's just that by resolving to not eat late at night there are that many fewer calories that I consume.

Something else I've done is use my phone less. Rather than calling up a co-worker on the phone, I'll stand up and walk to his office.

How's everyone else doing? I'm sure we all want to know, whether it's good or bad.

This AM. 4.8, I've just been taking smaller portions and only one go round at meal time, and like you, no night time snacking. If I absolutely have to have something between meals I'll grab an apple and I too have noticed I don't have that full bloated feeling all the time, kinda good feeling and after I lose some more weight it will be good to bend over without the gut in the way.
I was surprised, I thought there would have been more TBNers join in, maybe not that many on here need to lose weight, or maybe it just comes in handy as ballast.:)
