Well your typical hot tub isnt wider than 8' so as long as your forks are on the heavy side 48in forks would prob lift it. I know mine did.

The large tub I helped a neighbor with didn't have much underneath frame-wise, so I didn't even try to totally lift it. I had visions of the 48" forks coming up through the bottom of the actual fiberglass tub.

Exactly why I needed the 8ft+ no way to pick it up w/o the forks damaging it.
