Less noisey GT?

I'm just wondering if anyone can suggest a relatively quiet GT? Mowing and snowblowing is what it'd be used for most. The person who'll be using it has noise-exposure induced hearing loss and must avoid all loud noise. Earplugs are the norm - but fatique sets in after awhile...

The JD X300 series use a (relatively) quiet Kawasaki engine. It's probably about as quiet as you'll get. But to be honest, your best bet is to get a good set of ear muffs. I got a pair from Lowes with a radio built in, and it's amazing how much noise it blocks. I use them with a Cub 2544, which is load by any standard. And after a couple hours, I have no hearing fatigue at all.

In a truck maybe... The 30HP diesel by Kubota is as noisy as I care for.

My John Deere 111 is the quietest lawn tractor I've had. I know JD doesn't make the 111 anymore, but I'm just concurring with what CCinCT suggested about John Deere. They could be quieter.

IMO, look for either a Kawasaki or Honda engine. Either will be quieter than a Kohler, Briggs or Robin. IMO, the Honda is the quietest air-cooled engine out there. Water-cooled engine will also be quieter than air-cooled.

Bottom line is that you won't find a really inexpensive one... because of the cost of the engines.

The twin cyl engines are usually quieter than the single cyl

I ended up getting a radio headphones\hearing protection set for the same problem. I paid about $60. You get used to them after a while. They are less tiring than the constant low frequency hum of the deck.
