Least favourite implements to attach

I have the Euro hooks on my lift arms, I find them very convenient.
I also have the "claw" quick hook on my hydraulic top link.

having extending lower arms & hyd top link are useful as well

I use the standard factory arrangement, not any sort of quick hitch. I suppose when I get older I may need to get something, but at age 84 I've not seen any need yet.

I did build dollies 10 years or so ago so I can move the implements around to line them up more easily, and fit more into limited storage space.

My problem isn't with the arms or top link. That's easy peasy.
It's getting between the wheels and implement to attack the pto shaft.
I'm 5'11", or used to be , but my arms are too short to reach all the way over.
Not all implements, but the mower is the big pain with it's frame to allow it to side shift.

Of all the implements I attach to my tractor, this one is absolutely my least favourite! Getting in there to attach PTO shaft and adjust the top-link is not easy, with the limited space and projecting "things" - like top-link sliding tommy bar, mounting plate for the spray valves, windscreen-washer bottle mounting plate, and of course the PTO guard where the shaft emerges from the tractor makes for some contortionist skills in getting it hooked up.

In comparison, the box blade is a doddle, also chipper and slasher, and the air-blast sprayer's not too bad either. I'm guessing the spray tank manufacturers elected to keep the heavy unit (600 litre capacity) as far forward as possible for weight reasons, also to keep the 6 metre spray boom from being too far back behind the tractor.

That said, it's a nicely made spray unit, and the saving grace is that I don't need to use it very often.

The handle in the foreground belongs to the pallet jack, as all my implements are stored in the shed on the concrete floor, and having them all on pallets is so handy.

It can be tight. But really like the sprayer.
So it appears the pump is mounted on the frame of the sprayer. My pump slides on the PTO shaft so I can slide my pump on before I hook it up. Also mine has a quick hitch, which sits the implement back about 4 inches. That makes a huge difference. And lastly, take that PTO guard off and throw in in the scrap metal bin. That's an interesting looking sprayer. Never seen one of those. BTW, with a QH and a hydraulic top link most of your problems go away.

I just saw you are an Aussie. That explains the sprayer.
You can go buy one tomorrow if you want to. They are not specific to Australia.

The worst implement to mount in my opinion is side mounted disc mowers. The hitch is never level they are tippy, and when you lift the lower lift pin the whole unit want to lift, not just the one side.

Yep, I was going to say the same thing. Every year I dread hooking mine up.

I finally cut about 3" off my PTO safety shield and that made the pto shaft hook up a lot easier.

Even with the Pats quick hitch I still have problems unless the implement is on a flat surface.

The quick hitch was the very first implement I bought. :)
Still, my least favorite to mount and dismount is the belly (mid-mount) mower on the Kubota BX's. I hate doing that.

My worst one is probably the tiller on the little Agria.

Mostly because it uses this proprietary 2 point setup, where you have to slide the bracket for the hinge over two guide pins on the tractor end, while aligning the PTO shaft at the same time. All of that while lifting the front of the tiller and trying to slide it forwad.

I've since built a stand out of wood that supports the front of the tiller at the right height. Now I just have to roll the tractor back and forth instead of the tiller.

For the Branson, I really have no bad one. It comes with the Euro lower links as standard, so it's pretty much a trouble free operation. No frames in the way of hooking up PTO shafts either.

Hooking implements up is such a breeze with the QH and a hyd top link. Takes some time to get everything to mate up but once that is done it's a snap.

When I bought the Kioti, all my implements had the Euro style balls, so I modified the OEM 3PL lower ends, by removing the originals (top of pic), buying a pair of CBM hooks and welding them onto stock bar. They're secured in fixed position with that big pin through a hole in the bar, and not bothering with the slot (which would have been a PITA to do).

Two caveats - ensure the welds are V'eed adequately, and duplicate the angles of the original ends.

Nice! That's basically a 'Pats Quik Hitch' design.

The Pat's is a copy of the "Euro" hooks. The "Euro" hooks have a ball on the pins that allows some twisting and misalignment when being worked. These hooked lower and even top links used to be found on some Olivers and Fords back in the 60's then they fell out of flavor with the US for some reason

I thought about doing that!
I part the pto shaft and it is easier to slide the half shaft on without the implement being there. Then slide the 4 wheel dollie mounted implement in place and connect the two halfs of the pto shaft.
I think its a pain with any smaller compact tractors with a narrow width to work with the pto connection.
Never had these problems with larger HP tractors (70 to 120HP) with a wider width.

My backhoe because it has to line up perfectly, shut tractor off, attach hoses, restart and adjust stabilizers and bucket to get it all to line up then bolt it. It gets easier the more I do it but still sometimes it takes 1/2 hr.

I sure could have some fun if I had a plow like yours. (y)
