Lazy Way to Fix Cart Tire Hole too Big for Plug?

This isn't about a tractor, exactly, but I have a tractor, so I feel I should be allowed to cheat.

I have a gas EZGO with a big hole in a tire. It was patched with a plug long before I got the cart, and it held air for years, but then it started leaking. I redid the patch, and it's not working out.

Is there anything I can do other than yanking the tire and taking it in for a hot patch? I'm too lazy to wrestle it off and back on the rim.

If the hole is too big for a plug, and a patch has failed, maybe it's time for a tube and/or a new tire?

Pop it off one bead and cold patch the hole.

I'm.a big fan of tubes but the quality of tubes can be suspect these days.

I’ve double plugs holes before. Use the red super sticky plugs. If it held with one plug for a while it might work.

I guess I can try double-plugging, but maybe I should just pull it off and pay a guy $15 to put a real patch in there. Always fun to try to beat the system. Thanks for the help.

Risk vs reward.

I would fix it properly or replace the tire. I would have the tire fail at the worst time.

How much tread is left?

Talk to your local tire shop and ask then when they are foaming some tires, and bring yours in too. Or perhaps all 4 tires.

on atv's we have put upwards of 15 plugs in a tire, then set the plugs on fire, till they melt back in the hole. works better than you think
